“Overpriced, small rooms...but the location can't be beat”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Lands End. Check in and out was effortless. Our room faced the bay so we enjoyed watching the boat traffic. Our balcony was extremely small, maybe 3 X 4 feet. The room featured a comfortable king bed and a small table with two straight-backed chairs but no easy chair or sofa. The bath and vanity were tiny. There was some mold on the tub fixtures. We have certainly stayed in worse hotels but we probably would choose another place to stay in Homer.

The Lands End is located at the end of the Spit in Homer, AK. This was one of our favorite places that we stayed. Our room had a balcony with chairs overlooking the bay. Its in the older section, but it really had the charm you expected. The room décor was different then your typical resort rooms. This had a seaside feel. We slept with our window open all night and listened to the waves hitting the shoreline as the tide changed. If you are lucky enough to get a room with a balcony, you can view the boats go by and the birds in the bay. We soaked in the hot tub which was refreshing since the weather was cool and misty. Ate breakfast in the dining room overlooking the bay also. They have a spa, indoor pool, hot tub, a few workout equipment's. Also read all of the history on the walls concerning the 1964 earthquake and how this placed was affected. We will definitely make an effort to go back again if we can. Good idea to make reservations.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms overlook the bay. We were on the second floor. Make reservations.

We were winners of the Passport to the Kenai 2012 and a stay here was included. The rooms are clean and spacious! I loved having a balcony overlooking the bay area where we saw all kinds of sea life, birds - including the majestic bald eagle! We were close enough to walk to a variety of restaurants and shops. I loved it here! I cannot wait to visit Alaska again and Land's End will be my resort of choice!

Room Tip: I don't think they have a bad room at this resort! :D

We checked in here after I swam across Kachemak Bay so I was very cold! The friendly staff let me go right to the hot tub with great views of the bay. The room had the most comfortable bed of the trip and was much quieter than the other places in Homer. For the hottub and the view you must stay here and the price for all this isn't much more than any other place in homer. The restaurant also is very good and they were happy to point s to a pizza place when we were not up for a full meal.

Room Tip: The larger rooms overlooking the water are what you want don't try to save a few dollars here!

Mattress wasn't anywhere close to the quality you'd wish at a resort, but certainly had space for a whole family with double queens and foldout murphy twin. No AC yet could not enjoy breezes and ocean views with windows open due to numerous teens with more than one wood smoke campfire on the beach. Room became smokefilled and too noisy for sleep but was idyllic and lovely views on the balcony in the AM. Homer Spit has a half a day of shopping or boating, at most, and then I'd move inland or offshore. Best hiking is across the Bay, accessible by ferries. Great historical photos and framed newspaper articles all along the hallways, so do tour around the whole property.

Room Tip: Rooms and condos adjacent to the RV campground would be noisiest.

Located at, well, lands end - the very end of the quite peculiar Homer Spit. We only spent one night of our entire Alaska trip in Homer and this hotel was a pleasant surprise. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and view from the mini-balcony was breathtaking! We stayed in a 2-bedroom suite which is in the traditional sense one hotel room, but with a recessed/pocket door splitting the sleeping areas and one shared bathroom. One of the sleeping areas had a twin sized Murphy bed – which my 10 year old son got a kick out of. The cost of the room was a little pricey – as is EVERYTHING in Alaska, but it’s certainly cheaper than paying for 2 separate rooms. We didn’t know prior to arrival about the pool and hot-tub so we weren’t able to take advantage of those amenities. All in all, a comfortable stay and unbeatable location. Happy travels!

We stayed in one of the private condos at Land's End for 4 days. The view was breathtaking and sitting out on the private deck, we had our own retreat from the world. We could watch the fishing boats go out, as well as otters and eagles enjoying the sunshine. The condo was fully stocked with everything you needed and the beautiful art work added the right touch. Homer is a wonderful little fishing town with plenty to do in a laid back atmosphere. You can take the Danny J ferry over to Halibut Cove for a wonderful lunch in a unique spot at the Saltry Restaurant, go halibut fishing, visit the Bear Creek Winery, go into the eclectic shops or have a drink at the Salty Dog. This was our second trip to Homer and we will definitely stay in the Land's End condos again.

Room Tip: Go to the Land's End website to view the condos. They are much nicer than the regular rooms at...
