“Out in the wilderness with our own personal naturalist”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We stayed overnight (in a native Yurt - a kind of canvas-roofed hut) at the Center's Field Station on Peterson Bay. During the day, our extraordinary guide, Katy, took us on an exploration of the marine fauna and flora to be found in the tidepools, led us on a fascinating hike through the spruce forest (oh, those wild blueberries!), and helped us build a log fire for late-afternoon Smores. The composting toilets and overnight in the Yurt were maybe a little too rustic for us townies (the rain seemed to thunder on that canvas roof), but this was a fabulous, kid-friendly experience of the first order. Thanks!

“First rate experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

We booked a combo tour with the Center. 1/2 day tide pooling and 1/2 day kayaking. We arrived not knowing what to expect and had a fabulous morning with Gabby seeing the incredible animals the oceans low tides showed us! The afternoon of kayaking with Josh of St Augustines Kayaking was also perfect. He geared our trip to our abilities and we had a great afternoon.

“Carl E. Wynn Nature Center”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

My family had an amazing time visiting the Wynn Nature Center during our 10 day stay in Homer. Our trip was action packed with events but we enjoyed the Center so much that we visited it 3 times during our stay. We took two brief hikes on the trails and one organized hike with our guide Rob Roy. There were 6 hikers in our group and we could not have enjoyed it more. Rob showed us the native plants, lynx scat, moose trails, an assortment of beautiful birds and much more. He was very knowledgeable about the native animals & plants, & even helped us with our camera. We all agreed it was the highlight of our trip in Homer. We will visit Homer again and the Nature Center. It is an amazing place to see.

“Trip to Alaska”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

We had a great time tide pooling with the guide from the Alaska Coastal Studies Center during our Alaska visit. The day we spent tide pooling, hiking and sea kayaking was our favorite day while their. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic and quickly became just a friend. We were able to see all kinds of creatures and learned a lot during our visit. I would highly recommend them to anyone visiting Alaska!
