“Great place in great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2009

We booked Aspen Haus based solely on the reputation from TripAdvisor and we are glad we did. It is a great place, conveniently located to Denali, very affordable and owned/run by a great couple.

It definitely feels like you are in Alaska here (we were greeted by a moose when we arrived), yet the cabins are clean/modern and close to the parking lot.

Stay here and you will not be disappointed. If we are fortunate to come back to Alaska, we will definitely come back to Aspen Haus.

My wife and I stayed at Aspen Haus in early June as a base for our trips into Denali NP. We stayed in the Birch cabin for three nights and had a great time. It is only 15-20 minutes from the Wilderness Access Center where all of the buses into the park leave, so it's very convenient. We loved sitting on the front porch with a glass of wine at the end of the day - talking over the days events and what tomorrow held for us. A wonderful trip and a wonderful place to stay.

Our group of 6 stayed in Spruce and the 2 bedroom family cabin. The cabins are clean, charming, and small but adequate. They are priced economically for the Denali area. Denali is an easy reach by road. Eating places are quite limited in Healy but Ann Marie will make recommendations. We saw snowshoe hares and a red fox among the cabins. We would return to Alpen Haus if ever in that area again.

We stayed in the Birch Cabin for 4-nights and at first were worried it would be too much time for one location. Boy were we wrong! We enjoyed the cabin and area so much, we would have liked to stayed a few days longer. The very friendly and helpful owner Ann Marie met us upon arrival and provided us with tons of local information and answered our many questions. She gave excellent recommendations concerning near-by restaurants and Denali Park, which really improved the efficiency of our days sightseeing. The park entrance was a convenient 15-minute drive - and away from the commercial tourism of Glitter Gulch.

Our cabin appeared to be the largest and most private one of the property. It was very clean and comfortable. WiFi was available, but the signal was too weak to utilize within the cabin, but did work outside from the porch. Ann Marie also stopped by to say hello and to check on us each day of our stay. See baked fresh, delicious and different breakfast treats for us each day, along with bread, and stocked our refrigerator with juice and milk.

The property was left 'natural', allowing tall grasses and small shrubs to grow around the cabins, adding to the character and enticing wildlife to wander through. We saw an adult moose and two calf's, a fox, and several hares from very close proximity. The view of snow-covered mountains to the south from the small porch was very refreshing.

Other than the weak Wi-Fi signal, the only other slight negative was that we could occasionally hear the loud voices of neighbors in an adjacent cabin. While it didn't happen often and really wasn't much of an issue, it did take away from the otherwise serene environment during early morning hours when cabin windows were open.

All in all, we had a fabulous stay and without question would stay again and would recommend the same for anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, semi-private cabin in natural surroundings and away from all tourism.

My 2 friends and I stayed at the Aspen Haus in early June. It is only a short drive to Denali National Park and we did not want to stay in "Glitter Gulch". We were treated to a wonderful stay in a terrific suite above the garage (we recommend the North room, great views!). Each day we were treated to delicious, homemade baked goodies. We had everything we needed and were very comfortable. Ann Marie and Ted were terrific hosts and Ann Marie helped us with suggestions and good insider information.

My friends are planning a family reunion in the near future and won't stay anywhere else but the Aspen Haus.

Thanks Ann Marie and Ted!

We stayed in a suite above the garage (of which there were 2). It was very nice and clean plus it met our needs while we were visiting Denali. It was about 12 miles north of the park.
Ann Marie and Ted were very nice and we enjoyed the delicious breads and scones that Ann Marie baked daily. We had a little fridge stocked with orange juice, milk & butter for our morning breakfast. There was also cereal in the cupboard as well as teas, coffee, cocoa and a coffee pot to make coffee or hot water. There was also a little stove if one would choose or needed to cook anything. There were dishes in the cupboard to use as well. There was also a little table to sit at for our dining pleasure. The TV was also on this table and they left movies for us to watch if we wanted. We had such long days at Denali we were too tired, but if one would choose, this was really nice.
I would definitely stay here again if I were to go to this area.
The only thing I did not like was that it did look a little junky as one drove up, but it was because the owner was still doing carpentry work. That was fine, because inside was nice and clean. We had ample soap and shampoo, etc.

  • Liked — Cleanliness and Ann Marie's delicious breads and scones!

Stayed at Aspen Haus new unit called Ever Green. Lovely cabin off the beaten path. I was told it was brand new this year- and yes very thing was new. Lovely kitchen with two bedrooms and nicely appointed. All fresh towels and linens. Owner's husband built the house himself and when the extra yard to make it a wonderful retreat. Never met the owner but emailed and talked on the phone. She really when out of her way to insure that we were happy.
Denali is really close by and there are enough restaurants in the area so you don't have to cook if you don't really want to. Stopped at a small store for a roll of paper towels $4.00 WOW- around my house they cost 50cents. When to Rose's for dinner - down home cooking and reasonable- get the berry-berry pie with berry ice cream , ymmm
