“Nice Cabins and Rooms - Nice People!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

We stayed there twice both in a room and cabin. Extremely nice people. As advertised it's a continential breakfast, but if you're fortunate enough to get Ann Marie's scones with hand picked AK blueberries... Wow! It's not far from Denali Natl Park, but you have a great chance to see wildlife. Seen moose and calves on each visit, up close. Very cool place. Will definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: Personally we like the cabin better than the room

Great spot close to Denali, but not in the "tourist" area - about 10 miles away - which for us was great! Ann Marie was very helpful with things to do, places to eat. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Thanks Ann Marie!

We stayed in the Spruce Cabin and our friends were in the Willow. It's a little tricky to find the place, but we were very happy when we did. It was an unusually hot day in AK and small table fans were on when we arrived. A ceiling fan would've been perfect, but it cooled a bit as the "night" went on. The cabins were clean, comfortable and rustically decorated. We each had a fridge & microwave. Ann Marie's baked goods were well worth the stay alone. I never knew I liked blueberry muffins until our trip to Aspen Haus. We had a comfortable bed and a warm shower every night. They are only a few miles north of the park entrance. Ann Marie & Ted are extremely nice and helpful when it comes to getting around the area. I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed two nights in the Northland Suite, which has its own parking (with the other suite), which was nice, as the other cabins were full, and parking seemed scarce. We wanted a kitchen so we could come back after hiking in Denali, shower, and not have to find a place to eat out. The kitchen is serviceable (2 burner stove, small refrig, mwo, coffee maker, toaster) with minimalist pots and dishes. Salt, pepper, butter and jelly are kindly provided.

There are a few negatives: there is no closet or dresser, which is fine for one night, but we would have liked to have unpacked a little. Wifi issues in the suites. We found a stronger signal outside, and Anne Marie offered an empty cabin for us to access wifi and be comfortable, which was very kind.

More positives than negatives though: the suite was clean and the whole area quiet (it is worth the 12 mile drive from Denali to get away from the crowds at Glitter Gulch!). The bathroom sink is outside bathroom. Anne Marie provides a baked good (amazing scone and coffee cake while we were there) each evening as well as slices of homemade bread. The bed was comfortable bed, not too soft.

We started to pick wild blueberries near the cabins, and thanks to their son, we were stopped just as a moose came up!

Close enough to Denali yet far enough away to capture the remote wilderness of the area. Great hospitality and hosts who went the extra mile to make sure our stay was wonderful. We only stayed one night but the upstairs loft comfortably fit our 4 person family.

We stayed in he Alder Cabin and had plenty of room for 4 adults. The baked goods were a delicious treat and the hosts were very nice and very easy to make our arrangements with. Only suggestion would be darker window shades for that early morning Alaskan sun!

Our cabin was comfy, the hosts are amazing and you'll get plenty of RnR here. You'll find the cabins are quiet and it seems most of the guests who stay here are very respectful of others. The cabins are grouped, so you won't be stepping outside in your jammies but we did enjoy sitting out and having a cup of coffee (thanks to Aspen Haus for providing coffeemakers and fresh cream each day in the fridge!). It's no longer a bed and breakfast, as the wife is having some medical issues but hopefully she'll be well soon and back at it! Instead of a breakfast, they gave us amazing fresh breads/muffins and jams so we had no complaints. BE SURE TO GET YOUR SNACKS in larger towns (Anchorage/Fairbanks) - a bag of chips in this area will run over $5! Oh, and gas up in Trapper Creek or Fairbanks (do not wait to get gas up this way if you can help it). There is no tub, but the shower had hot water and the cabin was CLEAN (which speaks volumes!!!). We're outdoorsy people and we found this a perfect spot for our time in Denali. Can't wait to visit again! Please note: it is a cabin, not a Ritz Carlton so if you're looking for that, you'll need to shell out the big bucks and stay down near the main entrance of the park. Honestly we'd stay here over the bigger hotels but that's just us feeling more comfortable in our surroundings than others who are seeking luxury hotel stays. While I like to be pampered, I'm much rather have this kind of scenery, hospitality and privacy - loved it! Additional note: the restaurants in this area are VERY expensive so be prepared for that. However, there's a microwave and fridge in the cabin so you can bring food in your cooler. For breakfast, there is a local diner in Healy that is quite good and honestly the most reasonable meal we had! I'd recommend trying it and maybe working that into your daily schedule each morning or brunch if you can - will give you a great hot meal that fills you up for a fair price! Otherwise, the pizza place down near the park is very good (the tourist trap area).

Room Tip: We stayed in the Spruce Cabin. Close to the main house - but very quiet!
