“Best Restaurant in Haines!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We went for lunch and returned for dinner! The lunchtime menu included incredible homemade pizza, plus soups, salads, and more with views of the water for relaxing charm. By night, Fireweed turned on it's charm for a lively yet intimate place to dine and enjoy the night! The service was slower because of the crowd, but the food is worth the wait!

“a decent restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

We were in Haines for several days and ate at the Fireweed several times. This seems to be a popular local restaurant. The food is good and the service is excellent. Their menu features only very creative dishes frequently with unusual ingredients. The food is a bit too creative for my taste. When you are in a place like Haines, you want wholesome simple American food; not some local attempt to emulate San Francisco cuisine. Unfortunately, most of the Haines restaurants seem to be trying too hard to be food fancy. We found Fireweed to be among the best of the local restaurants. Being Italian, I wish they could make a simple traditional pizza and not one with a dozen non-traditional Italian ingredients, which is an unfortunate all too common American attempt to bastardize Italian food. I asked if they could make me a simple cheese pizza, but was told no. How hard would that have been? I knocked star off for that lack of customer accommodation.

“very slow service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

The food is great but the service is extremely slow. Even if you sit a the bar you have to wait an hour for an appetizer. Don't go unless you have lots of time!

“Taking time for goodness”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We ate here three evenings in a row. Good food each and every time. Predominantly locals in the evening meeting friends, celebrating birthdays and enjoying a meal out. Always packed, but worth the wait. The petite, hardworking lady in front of the pizza ovens is the owner; the chef is cordon blue trained. Our meal was always worth the wait, from the pizza, to the fish, to the salads and side dishes.

“delicious pizza!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

Delicious pizza paired with a locally brewed Spruce Tip beer. The service and atmosphere was the best kick off to my week in Haines. Albeit my friends called in the order and we intended on taking it to go but the evening rush has dissipated and the Fireweed welcomed us to stay and eat at the bar top.
