“Alaska Beauty well worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

Every time we come through Anchorage we've learned it's well worth the 45 min drive south of Anchorage to small town of Girdwood to stay at Alyeska Resort. You wake up to stunning views at base of ski mountain. Delicious breakfast at restaurant next to pond with views. Take the Tram ride at 10am or late in day to top of ski mountain to catch the views looking back toward Anchorage over Turnagain Arm section of Cooks Inlet. Enjoy a great hike up top where in late July and August you can still find large patches of snow to have a summer snowball fight. Visit the little museum up top At Tram house to gain an Overview of area and history. stunning views for miles and miles when clear. great photo opportunities of 7 glaciers and water. Bring your sweatshirt as it can get chilly up top compared to base of mountain. Enjoy this unique place every year we visit the area.

Expect to pay at least $300 a night during the busier times. Rooms were comfortable hotel size rooms. Pool was very nice but very crowded. There are a couple of lounge areas with couches to sit and read but out in the open. The area is beautiful. The Seven Glaciers restaurant was excellent but also very pricey, but you do get a free tram ride to the top of the mountain where the restaurant is if you have lunch or dinner reservations. If you can get a room here at an off season rate it may be worth it but both the room and the restaurants are pricey so beware.

We drove to the hotel after 23 hrs flights from australia, After getting lost for finding the place, We checked in to the hotel, the staff were excellent, The room was excellent and we went down to the restuarant and the food was excellent, even if it was pizza, The staff was so friendly and chatting to us about the trip, she couldnt believe the travel times we had, We fell sleep after a long travel, the room was excellent, The next day, we went on a walk around the hotel & gardens and then went upto the top of the mountain, The tram operator said this job has its up and downs and by looking at the ski field, it was quite steep levels for skiing, The view from the top was great and after seeing the top of the mountain, we picked up our baggage and left for our rest of the trip

I usually don't write reviews but I had such a great experience at hotel alyeska. The staff was outstanding, so polite and helpful. The tram operator when asked if he likes his job stated "it has it's ups and downs" I couldn't stop laughing!! Overall, I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

I went with a friend to learn how to snowboard...however, it didn't happen because Slush Cup was going on. The rooms are nice and actually very affordable, considering it's a famous Ski Resort. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfy and we had a great view of the mountain!

We had a great stay. The restaurants are excellent and affordable. The pool is great. 99 percent of staff was awesome. The resort access just a min away from rooms. On the down side it seems like if you wanna have fun you should probably go some where else. Not to mention make sure you bill is correct( we almost got charged 120$ extra) after we noticed they took care of it no problem though. Great place for out of staters but if your Alaskan and not used to babysitters you might want to rent a condo thru aleyska accommodations.
