“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

Husband and I stayed for only 4 days in late Sept. We realized it was an off-time (priced accordingly) but wanted mostly to relax. The resort itself is beautiful, room was beyond our expectations (only criticism I can think of, bathroom a bit small). The entire place was quiet and restaurants were a treat and not too pricey. The staff was very relaxed and friendly. We swam twice in the beautiful indoor salt-water pool, took the tram a few times, went into Girdwood for dinner one night at awesome restaurant. Some of the on-site (mountain top restaurant) and off-site activities (wildlife conservation) were closed for the season but for the short time we had there, it was absolutely amazing. Too much rain in the area caused some problems (certainly no fault of the resort), but the rain was soul-soothing to us. Picture a beautiful lobby, leather chairs & lamps, fireplace, huge windows facing the mountain, and a good book. mmmmm.

Room Tip: I would recommend the mountain-view rooms, the higher the better.

“Alyeska, interesting place to stay....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

My girlfriend has time share, and this was our option for our Alaska trip - lots of great things to recommend about the place - the view was amazing, and the staff was overall very nice ~ let us switch rooms (our first room had an obstructed view of the mt...). Heated towel racks, great water pressure, flat screen TV in the room. Good place to eat breakfast, as it was cheaper than local options in Girdwood. Free coffee, fridge in the room, (buy your food in Anchorage, MUCH cheaper than the local store). Great salt-water pool, hot tub, fitness center. Weird things: the 'info' book for the hotel did NOT include hours of operation for the various restaurants and facilities. If you don't have a laptop, internet access is $7 for 15 minutes. Depending on the season, only some of the hotel restaurants are open (Aurora is year-round). No fans in the bathroom? If you want to ride the tram, $20/person, unless you hike up (trail washed out while we were there, desk staff not helpful in that regard, as they didn't even know), or, you can make a dinner reservation for the Seven Glaciers restaurant - awesome food, but pricey. Cheaper if you skip the wine... stick to beer. Shuttle bus service came in handy... renting a car AT the airport added 28% tax - cheaper if you do it off-site. Overall, the place is great. Would like to return during ski season... .maybe....

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get room 424 - view blocked by shed on roof. Make sure you face the mt!

Keerasel,

I am glad you enjoyed your time at the hotel. We are now starting to hand out an info sheet at the Front Desk that has the current hours of operation and any events that may be going on. I recommend contacting our Concierge to set up transportation to and from the airport as we can provide a better rate and follow-up confirmation. Thank you for your feedback.

Sincerely

“Resort in Alaska”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

My husband and I drove from Anchorage for an overnight stay at the Alyeska. We took the tram to the top, just in time to see a rainbow. The restaurant and shop were closed for the season - only open on the weekends. The hotel staff recommended a local restaurant down the road, which was terrific and we had breakfast at the Bakery in the morning. Other than the resort there isn't much around - the so called towncenter of Girdwood consists of a small strip mall. There is a animal habitat for wounded animals that we wanted to visit but it was not open due to the weather.
I think this place must be wonderful in the winter with all the skiers.
We had a room on the 8th floor, which was nice..not 5star but clean, the shower was the best we had in all of Alaska - done right.
I would give this resort 4 stars. I think because it was the end of the season, it was very empty, except for a small conference and I did feel that the price was a tad over the value.

“Alaska”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Hotel was nice and clean, beautiful views/ grounds/lobby-kind of pricey- but somewhat expected for Alaska and this resort. Rooms spacious, modern, refridge, coffee maker, nice views. tram that climbs the mountain, restaurant on top- ski resort in winter.
Rained alot, but pool and hot tub were large and warm, actually able to use salt water pool, unlike many places where the pool is just too cold. Hot tub has view of small lake and mountains. Not too much in town, but Portage Glacier and Whittier not too far away.
Does have a spa, but didn't use it

econnelly8897,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am glad you were able to enjoy our pool and hot tub. Next time you will have to try out our Spa to experience the Moroccan Glow Head to Toe, it’s quite the experience.

“Fantastic place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We stayed here in August but unfortunately only for one night - would loved to have stayed longer. The place was clean, staff friendly and the restaurant food yummy. I also had a massage in the Spa and this was lovely. The room was all that we wanted and the bed comfortable. Lots of lovely walks in the area also. Would definitely love to stay here again.
