“Great food- A must visit in Girdwood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We were the first customers that walked in on a Thursday night, so maybe that is why the service was so great but it was GREAT. All their food is cooked using fresh ingredients and their menu is a little different than we were use to but it was awesome. We had the Hummus "nachos", Baked Ricotta Cavatelli, Dol Sot Bibmbap, and "Raw cheesecake" (that was made without cream cheese) for desert. The food and wine were awesome. WE will be returning to this place. A must visit if you are in Girdwood for the skiing!

“You can't beat their Misty Isle Ribeye with pimenton espresso rub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

One of the best steaks I've ever had. I get it every time now, that & of course their yam fries. Gosh, I want to go there now. hmmm.

One thing to note, they don't serve the steak at lunch -bummer as we wasted a trip one Sunday when we had guests in town. The burger was good, but the steak is really awesome.

For those not from Alaska, Girdwood is about 30 min drive south of Anchorage down a very scenic road that runs along the water as you leave Anchorage.

“Great local place in Girdwood and good food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

We asked locals for a recommendation and our tour guide recommended Jack Sprat. When we got there is was very crowded but the hostess encouraged us to stay. We did and were not sorry. Interesting food, friendly service and a touch of rustic Alaska. Four of us ordered different meals and were all satisfied with our food. Love the rustic touch and local flavor of the place. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

“A disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We had heard great thinks about Jack Sprat's but unfortunately we didn't experience them on our visit. The food was okay but nothing to write home about even though they were trying with fancy names and combinations. The vegetarian fare was a lot less plentiful than we expected and the items that we tried were again mediocre. On top of that, the service was slow and somewhat disconnected. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

“Completely overpriced food!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Granted its a very cute little restaurant in girdwood, it's completely overpriced! My husband and I spent 60 dollars for two salads, two beers and bread that most restaurants would give to customers complimentary. It's not to far from chair 5 which has a larger variety of food at a more affordable price for those on a budget. If it weren't for the outrageous prices at Jack's, I would not have such heartburn over this place, it's like taking advantage of customers much like a tourist trap.

As a small business, we take value seriously. Take two local draft beers, two entree sized BLT salads, and an order of artisan bread ($4) with olive tapenade (bread is available complimentary by request without the sauce), we come up with $42, not $60. In fact, similar offerings at restaurants down the road are within +/- $5. We cannot vouch for the other eateries in Girdwood, but Jack Sprat uses the best ingredients we can find, like organic produce and hormone free meats, that add to the taste and value of our menu while supporting farming practices we believe are more sustainable for our communities. Quality takes time, and well, sometimes a couple more dollars. Thanks for your support!
