We took the tram up mid-day as we didn't want to venture too far from Anchorage since we were flying out that evening. It is on the expensive side - $20/person. There are discounted rates for senior, military, and children. I picked up a discount coupon at the airport which gave us $2.50 off each ticket, and it's good on some of the lower priced tickets too! The tram goes every fifteen minutes and it's a quick ride up. The parking lot for the tram is about a five minute walk away, and there is a shuttle stop, but we did not see the shuttle bus. It was a beautiful September day when we went up, and there were a lot of mountain bikers going up on the tram. The tram operators did not let the number of mountain bikers affect the tram schedule.
Clouds moved in, but we were able to see glaciers and beautiful vistas. There is a small museum and giftshop as well as two restaurants - one casual and the other more formal. There are clean restroom facilities available. You can hike some trails after riding the tram, but we weren't up for that. The tram operators were very friendly and chatted with customers on the way up and back down.
