We went kayaking a couple of times in both Girdwood and Denali. We did the Girdwood trip with Alaska Backcountry and it was my favorite. First, this particular company is unique. Instead of putting in the river where the access in next to the road, the owner has used his engineering degree to develop a way to get the equipment down a rainforest trail and then pumps up the rafts in a secluded spot. You and the family can occupy yourself on the hand operated tram across the gorge while they pump up the rafts. they provided water and snacks. We did not feel like we were one of many rafts but on a private trip. You have to a few people in your party strong enough to carry a large pack with the dry suits suits for a couple of people. The river is beautiful and the ride has just the right amount of challenge. We ranged in ages of 9years to 45yrs. Guides were very friendly and knowledgable.

Our family of four went on the canyoneering trip through the Crow Creek Goldmine. Our guides, Andy, Ky and Opie, were awesome and were very knowledgeable about the history of the mine and the surrounding area. After a gold-panning demonstration, we repelled and hiked through a rainforest- like area to a huge waterfall and hiked back up a dry creek bed. The scenery was absolutely incredible and unlike anything else we experienced while in Alaska. This was not your typical vacation guided tour. If you're looking for something more personal and out of the ordinary, this is the way to go. This was easily the highlight of our entire vacation, and we're looking forward to trying another of the adventures that Andy offers when we come back. The guides were personable and casual yet very professional. Our whole family HIGHLY recommends this trip!!

I went on a deep back country winter cross-country ski. A place that has no name.
