“Simply Fantastic!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We recently spent 4 days at Castaway before heading to Aitutaki. The owners and staff (particularlly Michelle, Paul and Liz) were amazingly helpful and knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble. We arrived at the airport at 1.30 am and were greeted with Leis made of fresh flowers and transported to Castaway. The room was fantastic, great bathroom, HOOOOGE bed and great cooking facilities. The room overlooked the pool ad bar area but was still very secluded and given that this is a 'no kids' resort, a very relaxing and peaceful place to stay. Beach towels are available as is snorkelling gear and there's a great little beach bar open late afternoon. The sea infront of Castaway has been cleared of rocks and this is possibly one of the only places that you can actually swim and snorkel as opposed to paddle and peer! There's a fantastic dairy (supermarket) just over the road that sells all essentials plus home-made food made by local people...get up early ad see if you can grab a sausage roll (in pastry)..DELICIOUS!! but be quick, they don't stay around long. The bus stops outsideand it's a 15 min ride into town (if you go clockwise!!) In summary if,like us, you hate the big resorts where everyone is rushing around with tennis racquets and down to the pool for morning aerobics) then this is the place for you, PLUS it's great value! Thanks so much Michelle and Paul!! We LOVE your little piece of paradise. Meitaki!! Sally and Mike xxx

To our wonderful hosts, their staff, their friends and family who together made our stay the absolute best.
Thank you.
With Wilson's bar right on the beach, every sunset was recorded in perfect technicolour, white capped waves on the reef, Azure blue water over coral outcrops within the lagoon and sparkling white sand topped off a perfect castaway experience every night.
Our rooms were fantastic, every conceivable item required for beach side living was either readily available or was made available on request.
"Our" bar, on the beach was always a welcome sight after traipsing down the beach in both directions for hours on end, the easy and quickly managed transition from Beach bar to Crusoe's restaurant and bar was a doddle and the food produced from the small but exceptional kitchen was ample and stunning in it's simplicity, richness and quality.
Have seen many of the larger resorts in Rarotonga and would have to say that were we going back anytime soon, there's no question of here we'd be staying.
Definitely Castaways.
Close enough to town, right on the waters edge with it's own lagoon of beautiful sand bottomed beach, access to the entire shore side of the reef, snorkeling gear, beach towels, sand loungers, chairs, umbrellas and of course bar personnel not afraid to bring your drink to your sand side location.
Local dairy, literally just across the road and open early till late make for easy gathering of those last minute items you forgot or left behind.
Love it, and would definitely recommend Castaways , and their tireless staff to any travelers looking for quality accommodation, service, fine foods, great dining and an overall experience of being well looked after.
Thanks, you castaways, our shirts ( tribal gear worn by the management and staff) will be with us forever, as will our splendid memories.

Room Tip: Ask your hosts where they think you and yours would be happiest, they'll know!

We went on a weeks holiday to celebrate a birthday. Paul and Michelle are a great couple and will help with any issues you have! Loved the quiet and relax atmosphere of the Villas as there are only 11 units on the property! It has 2 bars, a beach bar and another one within the complex next to the units and pool. Great selection of cocktails and beers. Last orders are called around 900pm, this would be to keep the Villas a quieter place at night, so if you are wanting a big night out, would plan to start here then go into town!
Breakfast is filling with basic selections of fruit, cereals and toast with milk, juice and coffee.
They offer free snorkling gear ( thanks for getting me extra big flippers Michelle! :) ) beach towels and also a kayak.
They have a 7 day rotation dinner menu. We tried the BBQ (buffet style) and the seafood night. Both were tasty meals.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves very much, if you are looking for a more personal touch kind of accommodation, this will be for you!

Rarotonga is not a low cost travel destination so when somewhere offers such good value, they really deserve a positive review. I stayed here with my partner in June 2013 and we loved the friendly and relaxed atmosphere and the unfailingly helpful hosts. The food was very good, though there are a lot of eating options on the island, and many close by Castaway.
The room was really comfortable and we enjoyed flitting between the bars and the beach. Fantastic value, and we would definitely come back.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

I just arrived home yesterday after spending a wonderful week in Rarotonga where I stayed at Castaway Beach Villas. Paul and Michelle who celebrated their first year in the business are wonderful hosts. I found all the staff very friendly and quick to have a chat. Castaway has two bars with their own special qualities - one next to the pool and the other on the beach front. One of highlights for me was relaxing at the beach bar with a cocktail - either alcoholic or non alcoholic. Great place to socialise whilst watching the sunset. Crusoe the cat makes himself very welcome with all the quests.
The room I had was very clean and most importantly the bed was very comfortable. You don't have to go to far into the water to see some of the lovely fish.
Castaway supplies snorkelling gear and beach towels... You will need reef shoes.
As a fund raiser a local rugby team is planning on clearing an area for people to swim in front of the resort so that will be a real asset.
Paul and Michelle thank you for being great hosts.
Michelle, I look forward to seeing your new water feature.

Room Tip: Personal choice would be a beach front room but really I don't think it matters.

We were here in August and have just had another week here. What a fantastic location, great facilites, restuarant and bars. Paul and Michelle and their staff are just great. This is a great location and the atmosphere is great. No kids which for us was fine. We met lovely people and really enjoyed the daily happy hours. Paul and Michelle do so much to make our stay wonderful. We are coming back in August this year - three times in one year!

Room Tip: rooms 8 and 9 are the ones nearest the beach which we love
