Because of cigarette smoke still lingering from the last client, we were upgraded to a superior room. This had blood over the ceiling where a bird had hit the fan. Nearly all the structural stantions supporting the balconies and the gutters were rusted through. The electricity came on and off every 3 minutes from 7am to 10 am as overloaded. Poor location . Bar staff very slow to acknowledge guests. Very drab cream colours everywhere in need of re-paint. I think the staff TRY but they are losing the battle with the age of the hotel. We spent most of the time at many of the other beautiful resorts on the island. The money spent on this hotel could have been spent more wisely

“Good introduction to Raro”

Edgewater Resort

We were originally booked in to Club Raro but ended up at the Edgewater as the former was overbooked.
The food was above average, and although not the best snorkelling beach, I spent many hours in the water.
It was not close to town but several eateries were in easy walking distance and I don't believe you can experience Raro without a bike or moped.
The activities organised were generally interesting, and the coordinator was a wealth of useful information.
The rooms were a bit dated - but you only need the room to sleep - every spare minute should be spent away from your room.
We particularly liked the cocktails and the evening entertainments = especially the polynesian evening.

We stayed there last July with my two step sons, one of whom had never travelled overseas before. We found the service very slack, both at reception and at the restuarant and bar (one night the restaurant's service made Faulty Towers look good, no kidding!).

The rooms were tired and old. The facilities limited, eg. for two tennis courts they only had five rackets which meant if people wanted to play doubles there was one court left idle. Staff blamed previous guests for stealing the rackets.
The only o.k. thing about this place were the meals, once they arrived were good and reasonably priced. Breakfasts weren't that great.

I stayed at the Edgewater Resort with my family in 94/95 and 97 and plan to go back. We had a room overlooking the gorgeous lagoon. The staff were really friendly and gave us exceptional service. “Island Night” at the resort was amazing, it’s not to be missed! We had a wonderful time at the lovely hotel and can’t wait to go back!

“Not recommended”

Edgewater Resort

We were sorely disappointed when we arrived at the Edgewater resort. Our rooms were ok and the staff did their job, but the resort is terribly dated. The food was not bad, but the location was awful. It is a lonngggg walk to town and the beach at the resort is very sad. I would recommend staying at a resort on the opposite side of the island instead, where the beaches actually are how the Cook Islands is advertised.
