“Fantastic food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

This place is not to be missed on any visit to Rarotonga. I had food and coffee from both the store in town and in Muri Beach and let me say there food and coffee is really good! Slightly more expensive than some other places but well worth it!

“Superb dinner at LBV Avarua”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

We had a fantastic dinner here the week before last. If it had been in Auckland I'd be raving about it, and the fact it was in Avarua is even more impressive. There were four of us - two adults, two children. My husband and I ordered a shared plate of tuna carpaccio, and the waitress apologised, saying it wasn't available, but wahoo carpaccio was. It was superb and came with a lime avocado mousse and crispy kumara flakes. The children had fish and chips and the fish was fantastic. I asked what it was, and the waiter said it was wahoo which he had caught at 2.30pm that afternoon. It doesn't get much fresher than that! We both had sauteed crayfish & prawns with herb gnocchi, which again was fantastic. The girls had an apple & rhubarb pie with a great pastry and one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had (when I was allowed a taste!). Great friendly service and excellent wine recommendations. Like many other places on Raro, the wine list isn't always current, but in this case, the substitute (a Craggy Range riesling) was even better.

“Two LBVs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

There is a bit of confusion here. The address on the Tripadvisor page refers to the Avarua restaurant, but the reviews are mostly about the Muri branch. I have been to the Muri branch. It is a lovely building...like a modest colonial house with a veranda and has a contemporary interior. Sandwiches and coffee are both good. Prices fine. Service slow to glacial but pleasant.

The LBV at Muri is amazing - lovely building with extensive verandha seating around it - lovely setting - stunning menu and bakery goods and best coffee! Perfect for brunch or lunch. Definitely a must include on your holiday in Raro!
