LBV is a gourmet experience. We always try the different pastries- everything looks soooo tempting it;'s hard to make a choice- so why noit sample a bit of each???

“Best on the Rock”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

We visit Raro 3-4 times a year and there are several dinner restaurants on the Island doing very good food. LBV does GREAT food. We went twice this trip and loved it both times. We shared their selection of sharing dishes for starters - the Marlin cakes, Vietnamese rolls and Kumara Blinni were to die for. Our favourite main dish was a delectable Crayfish and prawn with home made Gnocchi. Perhaps just expected more of a wine selection but im sure this will come.
Service was fantastic and have paid 50% more in NZ for food that is half as good. Dont miss it.

“Happy Birthday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Went there with a mate and had the lamb chops which had the most amazing combinations of sides and blew my mind!!!
One of the best birthdays presents of all; and because the bill was very pricey!!! For an Average wage worker, that's huge!!!

“Difficult to Fault”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

My husband & I decided to have dinner at LBV based on the positive reviews on TA & we weren't disappointed.
This quirky little restaurant is only open for dinner on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings. We were surprised that on the evening of our visit there was only one other couple there.
As explained by a previous reviewer the starters are all tapas style shared plates, the choices quite extensive. We shared 2 starters - Our 1st was "pork dumplings" - which were crispy fried pork wantons served with the chef's own plum sauce & pickled pawpaw - excellent. Our 2nd starter was Portuguese Octopus - I still salivate at the thought of this dish - tender octopus in a spicy tomato sauce with freshly baked bread.
We decided to share just one main in the hope that we would have room for desert & chose the crayfish gnocchi with king prawns, the twist to this dish was that the gnocchi had been gently fried in butter - once again excellent.
Our plan worked well & we finished with creme caramel & apple crumble.
The wine list is extensive & it's obvious a great deal of thought has gone into the selection, by someone who knows their wines.
Our waiter on this evening was excellent - he was attentive without being overbearing & had a great knowledge of the food & wine he was serving. When encouraged he pulled up a chair & gave us a great insight into tourism & politics in Rarotonga.
Our only regret is that we left our visit to LBV until the end of our vacation, had we visited earlier we would definitely have made a return visit.

“Seriously good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

We are so happy to see gourmet food arrive to Rarotonga. This beautiful little cafe doing great serving classy food and cakes. We went for a coffee and brunch, sat outside and watched the world go by. The coffee was very good, I had the eggs benedict which was fantastic. My other half had the Caesar salad and it was superb. You can't go wrong with quality ingredients and the Chef obviously knows his/her stuff. When we return we are definitely going back for dinner (or two or three...).

Even the background music was great!
