I think the new name for this restaurant is the Silver Sands and with the name change they have created a pure Polynesian menu focus with dishes from Fiji, Tahiti, Tonga, Cook Islands etc.
The location is fabulous as it overlooks one of the islands in the Muri Lagoon. Neither my partner or i are alcoholics but we ended up going there every day for cocktails in happy hour (4pm - 6pm). At NZ$10 a pop they were excellent and the choice was extensive. After 2 hours of cocktails we would often fall into the restaurant for dinner. We had some great food with the Pork Ribs, Bouillabaise and Tuna with Paw-Paw the stand out options. Although eating 4 racks (i.e. huge portions) of Pork Ribs with 2 gallons of cocktails inside me was a difficult task, it was well worth it. The island night on Wednesday was a great experience and you also get to sample the majority of the dishes that they have on their a la carte menu. Only downside is that the service can be a bit hit and miss.
