It was our first night on Rarotonga. We had been getting to know village of Avarua, and we did not have our own transport yet, so we just wanted somewhere "easy" to have an early dinner and catch the circle bus home to our accommodation. We chanced upon Trader Jacks on the edge of town, having heard the name from travel readings.
We chose an outside table close to the water, part of the casual dining area rather than the more formal restaurant, and ordered a pizza and a bowl of calamari, along with some refreshing cool drinks.
During our time there, we enjoyed seeing the dragon boat teams practising right in front of us.
The pizza came first and was delicious, and the sun set; but the calamari took so long that we wondered if it was going to come. When it did arrive, it was pretty good - but not exceptional. By this time, the clock was nearly on the hour, so we caught the next bus rather than wait another hour.
So, the view was great, the pizza was excellent, the dragon boats were fun to watch, and we enjoyed ourselves.
