“A Place To Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We spent 4 days on Aitutaki and found that Aitutaki Beach Villas was the perfect place to stay. Melanie picked us up at the airport and very thoughtfully asked if we wished to stop and get groceries on our way to the house. This was so very thoughtful.
We had the absolute beach front cottage, which is the oldest one, but it is very spacious and comfortable. Mel has stocked it with a great 'mini bar' of various beverages and refreshments and there is a lovely supply of teas and coffee as well. It has all the kitchen equipment you need to prepare your own meals. I especially loved getting up in the morning, making my cup of tea and sitting on the verandah to greet the day. Groceries are expensive here so if you can bring a few things with you do so. But you eat simply and can probably find what you want here.
Heading along the beach to the right, we went to the Tamanu for a lovely dinner one evening and the next night, returned to sip a cocktail and watch the Island Dance show. Bring a little torch along for walking along the beach in the dark. There are lots of hermit crabs scurrying along the beach with their borrowed 'homes/shells' giving them some cover.
We walked along the beach to the left one day and had lunch at the Pacific Resort. They made the best cup of coffee I had on the Island! It is expensive to have lunch there but it was a nice treat.
The Koru Coffee shop is lovely too. We went there after checking out, Mel dropped us off, and then she picked us up later in the day for our late afternoon flight back to Rarotonga.
The cottage has a scooter ready for your use and Mel kindly took us to Police Station to get a license to drive it. There are kayaks for your use too.
The one thing I would suggest you bring is your own shampoo/conditioner as there is none there.
The beach out front is wonderful and you see the most amazing fish there. We enjoyed snorkeling right here in front of our cottage. There are a lot of sea cucumber on the bottom of the water so reef shoes are a good idea. We enjoyed an amazing day out snorkeling with Teking Lagoon Tours. They picked us up, took us to the boat, and we had 3 wonderful snorkeling stops, several little island stops and a beautiful lunch at one of them. Well worth taking this tour.
There are a few little repairs needed on the cottage - the screen door needs fixing and the screen itself needs fixing.
If we ever return to Aitutaki we would stay here again.
Thanks Melanie for your hospitality and your warm welcome and your help. It was wonderful

Room Tip: The Absolute Beach Front Cottage is excellent.

The Aitutaki Beach Villas are perfect. Well laid out, we'll provisioned, and well run. The beach is amazing and the water stunning. John and daughter Mel are amazing! They can book tours for you, get you a motorbike in minutes, and truly care about their guests. We were there around Valentines Day 2013 and were highly impressed. Would definitely go back but would stay longer next time.

Room Tip: The total beachfront was gorgeous but all are very close to the beach

Have just returned to Australia after spending 7 nights at Aitutaki Beach Villas. What a beautiful place, we stayed in the absolute beach front villa just 20 steps to the pristine clear lagoon.
Villas are self contained with everything you need to cook your own meals, and has a large fridge. Neat and clean and serviced every few days. Host Melanie will help you with everything from booking tours, dinner, island night to showing you around the island, a beautiful young lady with a beautiful smile, Melanie made us feel like part of the family.
A scooter is a must for traveling around the island, Melanie can organize these for you.
Food in the supermarket was very expensive but take away at Mama Tu's just down the road is good and cheap, resort restaurants are reasonably priced considering the price of food.
The beach in front of the lagoon is the best beach as Melanie and her grandparents keep it clean from rocks and and debris, snorkelling straight out in front of the villas is awesome with lots of colorful fish which come up to you expecting to be fed, I was lucky enough to see a Turtle, large grouper and a moray eel while snorkelling in the lagoon.
Teking Lagoon Cruise is an absolute must-Teking your cruise captain gives you a great day out on the lagoon as well as awareness of preserving the lagoon and some interesting history of Aitutaki
Snorkelling is awesome, giant clams, coral and lots of fish, a walk on deserted islands and a great lunch. The scenery is something off a postcard, I still can't get over the turquoise water against white beaches and blue skies, unbelievable
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday away from the crowds and Resorts I recommend Aitutaki Beach Villas for everyone, Couples, Families, Friends or Single.
It was really hard to leave this little Island Paradise

From the moment we arrived it felt like such a relaxed atmosphere and close to paradise. The accommodation (villa #3) was simple, very clean, screened and comfortable and absolutely perfect for what we wanted. Paka was there to greet us with her big smile and warm attitude. The villa was in a fantastic position, ten steps from the lagoon which was great for swimming, snorkelling, feeding the tropical fish and just generally great to sit and have a drink watching the water. The place is very quiet and all you hear are the roosters throughout the day. A scooter is an absolute must as it gets you around the island with considerably ease. We travelled in January so make sure you have a waterproof jacket – we used ours almost on a daily basis. Riding around the island sightseeing was one of our daily activities. We spent nine nights here in January 2013 and loved every minute of it. The weather was always warm even in the rain. Melanie and Paka were wonderful hosts. They helped us immensely with arrangements and suggestions and every time, and always with a big smile on their faces. Our villa was serviced almost every second day including a supply of fresh bath and beach towels. Fresh passionfruit, mangoes and payaya (paw paw) was also provided on daily basis. We catered for ourselves for breakfast and lunch but dined out every night at the variety of restaurants and cafes. The food was excellent at all venues and not too expensive. Some of the basics in food supplies were pricy but expected due to shipment once a month. I recommend a lagoon cruise – Melanie arranged ours with Aitutaki Adventures, and was not disappointed. Well looked after. It was very hard to leave after nine days, such a friendly, relaxing holiday and was thoroughly looked after from beginning to end. We would certainly love to return for another holiday.

My husband and I just got back from staying 13 nights in both the beach view and absolute beach front villas. The villas are very clean and the kitchen has everything you need to cook your own meals (gas stove, microwave etc..). The real gem is the location and large covered deck overlooking the beach. The beach rarely has anyone on it, just the occasional couple strolling along from other resorts. The snorkeling just to the right of the property is quite good (probably some of the best off shore on the island) I saw eels, a sea turtle, lots of butterfly fish, triggerfish and even a Grand Trevally. Although overall I found the offshore snorkeling better off Titikaveka on Rarotonga. The fish on the reef close to shore are very friendly and they swim right up to you expecting food. We also got quite attached to the resident tabby cat and we made sure she was well fed. Instead of scooters we rented bicycles since we prefer to get a bit of exercise. We found it ideal, taking us 10 minutes to bike to the Heineken store where we purchased most of our frozen foods/groceries/beverages. The Heineken store has basically the same selection as the Maina Store in the town centre. There is Neiba's grocery store on the other side of the island which has the most food selection of any store on the island. You will not easily find fresh meats or fish, you might luck out at the local market in town but we never found any, only frozen. We did the Kia Orana lagoon cruise with Captain fantastic and this was one of the highlights of our trip, very entertaining. Highly recommend. Lastly I have to mention Melani who along with her aunt were looking after the place while we were there. She picked us up at the airport and took us grocery shopping before checking in which was very useful. You see her maintaining the property most days and she is very friendly and helpful. Thanks Melani for such a wonderful vacation!

Room Tip: absolute beach front villa #2 is best.

Everything at this place is perfect. We had rented one of the absolute beach front villas, had fresh coconut each morning and were even able to see wales from our porch several times. Melanie, Rupi and their aunties are absolutely lovely and take care of everything you need, wether it's tour or restaurant bookings, opening coconuts, showing you how to use the traditional vaka, or just giving you a big smile every time you meet! The place is very quiet (you will get used to the roosters you find everywhere in the South Pacific) and laid back. You should rent a scooter though, riding it across the island was one of our favourite past times. If you stay long enough the scooter is included in your booking! We spent a 8 days at Aitutaki Beach Villas in September and really really loved it! We were almost crying when we had to leave and the sky was too. If we ever get the chance to go back to the Aitutaki we would defenitely stay there!
