“Are we in heaven...?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

I did not think it was possible for the actual location to look better than the photo's - but we found it here @ Etu Moana on Aitutaki Island. Everything was perfect - and I do mean 11 out of 10. Service was incredible - as was the breakfast by the pool each day, the gardens, the lagoon, as was out hut, as was the local cat!! We celebrated out honeymoon and we cannot wait to return one day. The perfect accommodation on the worlds most perfect & peaceful island.....I feel sad that we are not still there now!!!

Mere words cannot describe Etu Moana, you really need to experience it yourself. We have found our own little slice of paradise and we will definately be returning, we loved being there and hated leaving!! Etu Moana is a quiet, exclusive boutique resort with only 10 villas, (4 beachfront and 6 lagoonview) a beautiful swimming pool with a honesty bar in the pool house, and fantastic swimming and snorkelling in the reef just off the beach. If you want a full service hotel with a full restaurant and bar try somewhere else, the magic of Etu Moana is in its simplicity. We stayed in Villa 1, a very private beachfront villa with postcard views of the lagoon from the lovely covered balcony, excellent facilties with full kitchen, well appointed bathroom and spacious bedroom/lounge area. The breakfasts were served around the pool, but you could take them back to your villa if you wanted to. Breakfasts were lovely, local home made breads, a selection of jams, (some local) muesli and cereal, fruits, juices, tea and coffee. We were going to hire a scooter while we were there, (which can be organised by the resort) but we rode the excellent Haro mountain bikes everywhere and absolutley loved it. (Aitutaki is very flat and not very large) We spent a day out on the lagoon with Teking (fantastic day, we had a ball) and were speechless when we came back to find a bottle of excellent sparkling wine on ice in our room as a gift from our fantastic hosts Amanda and Steve to congratulate us on our 25th anniversary, what a fantastic end to the day, and is a good example of the care and attention to detail shown by Steve and Amanda. I cannot fault this resort at all, my only worry is that by recommending it so highly, they wont have any room for us when we want to return. To Steve, Amanda and all your staff, thank you, thank you, thank you for such an enjoyable stay, we cant wait to return, see you next year!

We stayed at Etu Moana for the last part of our honeymoon in February 2013 and absolutely loved it!
Fantastic location, lovely Canadian hosts (Amanda and Steve), beautiful chalets and stunning gardens!
We had villa 9, absolute beachfront and the view is the best in the world bar none - and we have both traveled extensively to other Pacific islands and around the world.
Lovely friendly service, plus everyone on Aitutaki seem genuinely happy and lovely people.
There is a pool available set in very lush gardens, but of course with the world's largest lagoon at your doorstep, it's really only suitable for night swimming IMO.
We had stayed next door at Amuri Sands for the first part of our honeymoon which is also lovely, but not luxury as Etu moana is. The nice thing there though is the fresh fruit, especially papaws and bananas fresh from his garden virtually every day. I felt maybe the breakfasts at Etu Moana could be improved by offering more fruit from its garden too, but really, western white problem much!!
Go here, I dare you to not like it!

Room Tip: Some garden villas are not as private as others, best to go for absolute beachfront, in particular v...

We are back from our third stay at Etu Moana and I’m at a loss for words to explain how truly exceptional this place is. We stayed for 10 perfect days, and this time, since it was our third time on the island, we hung out at the resort more than on previous occasions. We stayed in Villa 10, one of the new ones, and found it as comfortable as the others, and more secluded. Parana at the front desk will book any tour of activity for you, Tere’s bright smile will make your breakfast memorable, and the housekeeping staff will keep your villa spotless (even after cooking most nights and leaving dirty dishes) and your clothes clean. Steve and Amanda are the quintessential managers that you wish you could have on every vacation. They will go out of their way to ensure your holiday is perfect. Aitutaki is an island paradise, and Etu Moana is the best place to enjoy it.

Room Tip: Villas 1, 3, 9 and 10 are absolute oceanfront. Villa 10 is the most secluded one.

I have no idea where to start with this review. We were blown away by the beauty of this place as well as the service. I'll start with our arrival:

We were greeted off the plane by Amanda & Steve the managers. I have never experienced that in all my travels....most of the time you wouldnt even know who the managers are. They were a lovely canadian couple who have been managing the place for 2 years. So warming & friendly.

We arrived to some coconut cocktails followed by a tour of the property. We were then shown to our room & given a tour of that also. The place is to die for. We stayed in Villa 5 which I personally think is the best one as we got pool view & beach view whilst still maintaining privacy. Friends of ours were absolute beachfront however it wasnt as private.

The place is picture perfect & you feel like you have gone to heave. The honesty bar is a great isea & you can help yourself to drinks at any stage. If your quite creative you can try all different cocktails etc. Just write down what you have & it gets charged to your room. The pool is fabulous & the rooms are amazing. I loved the polynesian feel to it whilst still being luxurious. We hired a scooter which is great to get around the island on. We were constantly restaurant hopping. My husband & i also went & checked out other accommodation as theres a large group of us coming back to the Aitutaki next year. We woulld definitely return to Etu Moana. No other place had the same feel to it. I didnt feel like I was staying at a resort. I felt like I was staying in someones house & had access to everything. Was a very warm & friendly enviroment & I would reccomend this to everyone.

Thankyou Amanda & Steve. This place made our honeymoon. You & the staff do a fabulous job.

(Nardia & Isaac jan 2013)

Room Tip: Villa 5 is the best!!

We stayed here on our honeymoon, and it was the perfect place to get away. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. The views from our Villa 5 were gorgeous. We can't wait to come back for an anniversary one of these years!
