“We love it so much we went back for the third time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

We are back from our third stay at Etu Moana and I’m at a loss for words to explain how truly exceptional this place is. We stayed for 10 perfect days, and this time, since it was our third time on the island, we hung out at the resort more than on previous occasions. We stayed in Villa 10, one of the new ones, and found it as comfortable as the others, and more secluded. Parana at the front desk will book any tour of activity for you, Tere’s bright smile will make your breakfast memorable, and the housekeeping staff will keep your villa spotless (even after cooking most nights and leaving dirty dishes) and your clothes clean. Steve and Amanda are the quintessential managers that you wish you could have on every vacation. They will go out of their way to ensure your holiday is perfect. Aitutaki is an island paradise, and Etu Moana is the best place to enjoy it.

Room Tip: Villas 1, 3, 9 and 10 are absolute oceanfront. Villa 10 is the most secluded one.

I have no idea where to start with this review. We were blown away by the beauty of this place as well as the service. I'll start with our arrival:

We were greeted off the plane by Amanda & Steve the managers. I have never experienced that in all my travels....most of the time you wouldnt even know who the managers are. They were a lovely canadian couple who have been managing the place for 2 years. So warming & friendly.

We arrived to some coconut cocktails followed by a tour of the property. We were then shown to our room & given a tour of that also. The place is to die for. We stayed in Villa 5 which I personally think is the best one as we got pool view & beach view whilst still maintaining privacy. Friends of ours were absolute beachfront however it wasnt as private.

The place is picture perfect & you feel like you have gone to heave. The honesty bar is a great isea & you can help yourself to drinks at any stage. If your quite creative you can try all different cocktails etc. Just write down what you have & it gets charged to your room. The pool is fabulous & the rooms are amazing. I loved the polynesian feel to it whilst still being luxurious. We hired a scooter which is great to get around the island on. We were constantly restaurant hopping. My husband & i also went & checked out other accommodation as theres a large group of us coming back to the Aitutaki next year. We woulld definitely return to Etu Moana. No other place had the same feel to it. I didnt feel like I was staying at a resort. I felt like I was staying in someones house & had access to everything. Was a very warm & friendly enviroment & I would reccomend this to everyone.

Thankyou Amanda & Steve. This place made our honeymoon. You & the staff do a fabulous job.

Room Tip: Villa 5 is the best!!

We stayed here on our honeymoon, and it was the perfect place to get away. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. The views from our Villa 5 were gorgeous. We can't wait to come back for an anniversary one of these years!

Etu Moana is a fantastic place to stay on one of the most amazing islands in the South Pacific. The hosts, Steve and Amanda are incredible, the staff are attentive and helpful, especially my new best friend on the island Tere. The rooms are fabulously designed with huge decks and well appointed kitchen and bathroom facilities. This is the perfect location for couples. Also the beach is swept of coral debris daily and there is splendid snorkelling right on your doorstep. The next time I go back to Aitutaki I will definitely be booking Etu Moana.

beautiful rooms, nice swimming off the resort, small boutique, great service, can ride the push bikes to the nearyby town for something to do. Lovely restaurant next door, The pool is small and no bar as such. Preferred the Aituataki Overwater Bungalows myself

Etu Moana had everything for us, it was perfect. Coming from the UK and travelling around the world for 6 weeks we stayed here for 5 nights 16th-21st Dec 12 and we loved it!
We had stayed elsewhere on the island as well as Rarotonga but Etu Moana was our favourite. It has a boutique style feel about it yet it's so relaxed and personal.
Steve and Amanda are the perfect hosts and it's down to them this place works as well as it does so thank you!
We stayed in Villa 1 and it was perfect, everything we wanted, we could have spent weeks there!
We are already trying to plan our return trip!

NB : Don't go home without a Ukulele ... Nick is sitting in our flat in Exeter, Devon playing his still ... brings back the memories :)

We returned a week ago from our honeymoon in the Cook Islands. Without any question, Etu Moana was the highlight of our trip. It started with the very warm greeting we received from all the staff. That really set things off to a great start. We felt so relaxed, comfortable and at ease at Etu Moana. We spent a lot of time relaxing in our villa (#4), or sitting by the beach, swimming in the pool, exploring the island. We found the location to be great for a lot of reasons. When we went to check out the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort it was quite windy there - which is good for keeping the bugs away, but it was not as peaceful or as private. Also at Etu Moana we loved that we could walk to Tauno's Garden Cafe. We went there 3 times for lunch and it was wonderful. I will be writing a separate review for them :) Etu Moana also has complimentary bicycles, which we used practically every day. We biked around the island, we rode to the markets, to restaurants, other beaches. Also at Etu Moana you are a short walk to the road that takes you up the hill to a nice lookout area. It's also very close to the airport and it makes for an easy arrival and departure.
The breakfast is healthy and the pawpaw with some lime and coconut is something I would recommend.
Steve and Amanda are super helpful and suggested things to do and answered any question we had. The guest books in our villa were extremely helpful for suggesting things to do.
You are able to borrow books and DVDs at Etu Moana, and everything seems so easy and at your fingertips.
We ate at Puffy's which is practically next door - once at their Island Night and once just for dinner, and you can do takeaway and bring it back to your villa if you like.
But there is a full kitchen in the villas and we would bike to a couple of the local stores and collect things so we could make ourselves a simple lunch or dinner.
I will just end by saying that we cannot wait for an excuse to return to Etu Moana... we miss the precious time we had there!

Room Tip: We stayed in Villa 4 for 6 nights and we loved it. You can see the ocean and you have total privacy...
