“A second affair”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Our previous stay was in villa 2, and our recent stay was in villa 1 which is one of the absolute beachfront villas. We really liked the location of our villa with the beach at our doorstep. It felt private and far away enough from the other villas. The rooms are all identical so for more info on what’s inside you can see our previous review. The staff were amazing as usual. Breakfast was great with heaps of fresh papaya which was to die for. We had to juggle around our bookings for excursions a bit because of poor weather, but this was no problem for the front desk. We hired a car for three days, ate out for all our lunches and dinners, and went on a lagoon trip. We’ve reviewed those bits separately. Etu Moana is truly a special place and we hope to be back again at some point.

Hi cannot reccomend this place more, with the warm friendly welcome from the staff and owners as we meet them while we were staying, everything you need and everything that you could want was there. Staff were there to help in every way possible. Rooms have everything in them. My husband and myself needed a much needed break and I think that we could not have gone to a more relaxing magical place. Will be going back. Loved it all.
Thank you guys for a great relaxing enjoyable stay. Hopefully we will be back.

Perhaps not the most original title - but these words were quietly uttered by my wife while enjoying the facilities on offer at Etu Moana. I have never heard her utter these words about any place we have visited ever before! We originally visited Aitutaki in 1987 as young honeymooners and so it was fitting we return for our 25th aniversary. If we had known just how wonderful grounds, the villas and the most wonderfully friendly staff were - we would have skipped Rarotonga and spent more time here.

While we revelled in the luxury, the honesty bar (do you know how much fun it is mixing your own cocktails?!) and the exceedingly friendly and helpful staff, we felt that all at Etu Moana go that extra mile to make sure your stay is relaxing and hassle free. The bicycles, sea kayaks, snorkelling gear were all utilised and it was refreshing that there were no additional charges or dramas in using the new and well maintained equipment.

The villa was a spotless mix of islander and modern decor. The verandah was right on the beach (which is manicured every day!) and was just the perfect place to relax on the warm, balmy evenings. I particlulary loved the second outdoor shower which was screened for privacy while still allowing you to enjoy the palm trees while freshening up after hard day exploring.

Perhaps as testimony to the overall attitude of the staff, one evening Steve gave us the keys to his car so we could get to our hastily arranged dinner !

But as we weren't allowed to take the staff home with us, I guess we'll just have to return to Etu Moana again soon!

Room Tip: Villa 10 was completed in May 2012 is on the western boundary which gives just a little more privac...

From the minute we landed at Aitutaki airport everything was perfect; right off the plane we were greeted by Steve and his friendly staff, and offered wreath of flowers, our luggage was taken care of, and 5 minutes later we arrived at Etu Moana and were offered a very refreshing coconut...
We had booked villa 10, absolut beach front and definitely worth the extra few dollars. we were shown around the villa and all the special touches to make our stay comfortable, including a welcome bottle of very decent New Zealand bubbly.
The villa had all you needed, the bed and pillows were premium quality, and the bathroom very well equiped. The outdoor shower was our favorite.
Breakfast was sumptious, delicious fresh fruit, and excellent coffee.
The honesty bar is a very good idea, but also it is stocked with excellent wines and very reasonable prices considering how remote Aitutaki is.
We had dinner out every night except once when we picked up excellent fresh grilled Broad fish from Puffy's next door and enjoyed it on the deck at sunset with an excellent Pinot Grigio!
The reception staff were always very helpfull and would book all our needs.
We rented scooters for a couple of days, it was very convenient for visiting the inside and going to dinner, bicycles are available too, but it can get a little hot.
We also booked a water taxi, and got dropped off with our snorkelling gear, and some fresh fruit and water and spent a half day on Honeymoon Island, and then another on One Foot Island. The snorkelling was much prettier than the barrier reef in Australia.

Room Tip: If you are going to come so far, you might as well book a Absolute beach front villa, # 10 is one of...

This hotel is not just the best place to stay on Aitutaki by local standards, it is also objectively amazing!
Location: on the west coast of the main island, the only long sandy stretch on Aitutaki. Perfect for beach and sunset. A short bicycle ride away from town (a must-do).
Hotel: Truly boutique, in a gorgeously landscaped, lush colourful garden. There are only a few, independent villas, spacious and carefully furnished to a high standard, with a great combination of warm wood, local character and modern amenities, including a very well equipped kitchenette.
Price & service: Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful, and yet discrete. The price is not low but it is fair for the quality you get, plus there are complimentary things such as breakfast, airport transfer and bicycles.
Highly recommended!

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and were very impressed with the room, beach and most of all the service. The staff went out of their way to help us with everything we needed even so far as ordering and picking up a pizza for us. Beautiful location, highly recommended!

Kia Orana. WE LOVE Etu Moana. Fifth visit staying for 33 days. Relaxing, snorkeling lagoon tours. My husband fished twice with Mike and Mere. Black Pearl Fishing Charters. Yellow fin on the BBQ.. The staff at Etu Moana are the best. The Villas are kept spotless on a daily basis. Everyone goes beyond to make your stay a wonderful experience.. Fun poolside get together for our birthdays with everyone invited. It feels like family. All the quiet and privacy you desire. Beautiful lagoon view of the sunset and check for falling stars at night. We wish we could move in on a permanent basis but we'll just have to go back as soon as we can. Don't hesitate. We think you'll be very happy at Etu Moana.

Room Tip: Absolute beachfront for sun, however every Villa has a view of the Lagoon
