“Lovely Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

My husband and I stayed in room 201, a beach front bungalow for 4 nights. Overall a good choice but for the price paid, one would expect showers to provide a constant supply of warm water, not just a minute at a time, then completely cold, and the flyscreens on the front ranch-sliders were broken and tatty. We had no problems with mosquito's but, they wouldn't have been adequate. We arrived on the island at 6.30pm so booked ahead for a table at the bbq night- disappointing at $48 pp. The menu stated fresh fruit salad and icecream, and having just arrived we were looking forward to sampling some fresh tropical fruit but instead were served tinned fruit salad- looked like Watties! However, we thoroughly enjoyed the bowl of fresh mangoes supplied in our room. Renting a scooter was fun and enabled a good look around the island. Swimming off Samade was great, but the meal wasn't. Koru serves good coffee and the lagoon trip with Puna from Aitutaki Adentures was the highlight of our visit- the lunch made by his wife was some the best food we ate on the island. Snorkelling was also good off the marine research place.

We stayed here for 5 nights in October 2012 and were very happy. Our room was in the 100 block and in our opinion, the pool was much nicer than the other side of the resort. Aitutaki is a beautiful island and Tamanu is located in a great spot. The snorkeling in front of the resort is amazing and be sure to snorkel out to the buoy to see something wonderful. All of the staff were lovely, polite and helpful - it's not often that you stay somewhere and all of the staff are excellent.
Our room was cleaned daily and comfortable for our needs. The restaurant really is high quality. We attended the Sunday night BBQ which we highly recommend - it was a shame that we missed the Island night. Most nights, if not eating at the restaurant, we would stop past for a cocktail nightcap - bliss!
Breakfast is fairly basic, but you can order from a menu if you feel so inclined. Make sure you take up the offer of going to Church on Sunday morning to hear the singing, it is spine tingling.
We both slept really well, and didn't need the air conditioning very much. In hindsight, we wished we had have stayed on Aitutaki longer than Rarotonga. There isn't a lot of do, but somehow the days just slip away too quickly.

Room Tip: The 100 rooms are great value and all have views of the water

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights it was very nice. The island night was well worth it. Only real gripes about the place is that you had to pay to use their slow island internet service at the hotel. Also pay for old, unsafe single speed bike that is not complementary. Additionally the resort grounds could be better kept, and the stray cats and chickens in the restaurant were annoying. I would not stay at this hotel again. I would stay at the pacific resort about a mile closer to the town. One other thing is the pools were a bit dirty and needed to be cleaned and retiled. The best thing about the hotel is great access to the reef and lagoon.

We stayed in Room 203 for 5 nights and then room 208 for a further 3 nights from October 13. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The location is great, right on the beach and lagoon, and handy to other properties and the village. The restaurant was very good and priced on par with other places we went to on the island. We hired a scooter for 3 days which was a good idea to see the island. Be sure you like roosters because they can start about 2am though. One thing that was disappointing was that the bicycles were not complimentary. To charge $8 a day each seems a bit over the top considering the condition of them and when you can hire a scooter for $30 which a couple can get around on. Based on our stay we would highly recommend this property.

Room Tip: If you can afford it go for the beachfront rooms 201, 202 or 203.

We stayed at Tamanu Beach for 4 nights and absolutely loved it. Aitutaki is paradise on earth and Tamanu Beach is a perfect place to stay on the island. We thought about booking a four or five star resort on the island, but then choose Tamanu Beach due to the good ratings. It was very good value. We had a beachfront bungalow, which I would absolutely recommend - it's worth every cent. You can enjoy dreamlike beach views and even better sunsets. The beach is good for swimming and for relaxing - not so much for snorkelling (at least not directly in front of Tamanu). Staff is very helpful and friendly, the island night was great. If you are on the island, you have to go diving. Visibility is incredible! Tamanu Beach reception can help you with booking a great dive trip. We would also recommend a day trip to one foot island.
We loved the couch/ sun lounger on the terrace. The bungalows are big enough, but the bathroom is pretty simple - don't expect anything fancy there. The bed and the room in general are nice, the food at Tamanu is very good and the views on to the beach are just excellent! It was one our our best resorts in the South Pacific.

we would definitely recommend it!

Room Tip: Beachfront bungalow, best views!

Our first time to Aitutaki and no expectations made this a holiday to remember.
Tamanu Beach is 'on the beach' none of the bures are more than a few seconds from the water, weather it be a pool or the lagoon. We walked into a postcard.
The unit had all we needed, a good kitchen and bathroom, great deck and outdoor furniture. It is a resort hence the cost, it has a great location.
Staff were very respnsive to our wants & needs....not many though! We hired a cycle and found our way to the 'main town' area, which is very Islandish. The beach areas are touristy and across the road is the way the lovely islanders live.
Something not may people in todays world would see or expect near a 'resort'.
The next day we went on Aitutaki Adventures lagoon trip, nice & relaxed.
We followed that up with hiring a scooter and explored the island, a fun time.

The Cook Islands are a true relaxing gem in the Pacific, leave the expectations at home and enjoy.
