“THE BOAT SHED BAR @ GRILL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Dined at the Boat Shed one night and was quite impressed with both the meal and the atmosphere of the place. We had the choice of eating inside or outside on the opened aired verandah at the back of the property. The service was fast and friendly and the meals were large and good value for money. The room is decorated with old memorabilia of sailing ships and past fishing trips and records catches of the legendary "Bone Fish" as the property caters for fishing charters and fishing enthusiasts from all over the world. The owner visits each table upon your arrival with a warm welcome and later in the night introduces you to his "pet" coconut crabs while checking that your experience is a memorable one......which it was!

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local working at the resort we were staying at, so we thought we were in for a seafood treat. However, we were very disappointed by the overall customer service and food at this place. Upon arrival, we went straight to the counter and were standing there for a long time before we were being acknowledged by the waitress. We had booked in advance, but for some reason, this hasn't been noted in the reservation book when we arrived. There weren't as many seafood dishes on the menu as we had anticipated. I ordered a deep fried snapper and my husband ordered the grilled chicken with whisky sauce. It took more than an hour for the food to arrive as the waitress had forgotten our food order. There was no apology to that at all, which was rather shocking. Food was average and the portions are smaller compared to the other cafes / restaurants we visited on the island. The rice that came with the fish dish was cold and dry (perhaps being cooked the night before). They also served frozen vegetables with the fish, which was tasteless. We also had to wait for a long time when we wanted to settle our bill in the end. We definitely won't recommend the food at this restaurant, but it's a rather nice place if you just want a beer and chill out by the seaside.

“Lovely position-great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Good location, food ok but like the rest of the island was really disappointed with the amt and quality of the seafood which is one of the things we looked forward to. However staff were extremely friendly and professional and Fabio and his twin brother are a delight and so into making "foreigners" feel at home

“Fresh Mahimahi cooked”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

We ate here 3 out of 5 nights when we stayed in Aitutaki. Awesome service, food, ambience and of course inexpensive! Our culinary experience was heightened when we asked if we can bring our fresh Mahi to cook (luckily I caught one!) Well..They made sushi rolls and shusimi for entr'e followed by a beautiful flavoured Ika Mata (raw fish) presented in a half coconut shell.. mmmwwhaa
and the mains were fillets of mahimahi done in a ginger, garlic, soy jus ...yummmy!! So much food we couldnt eat it all!Testimony to the asian chef who is there..fantastic! Definitely will return there
