“Worth the visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2007

My wife and I felt that Belvedere Lookout justified our car rental by itself and it's without a doubt a must see for anyone visiting Moorea. From the top of the lookout you get an amazing view of both bays. There are old ruins that you can tour and a vendor that will sell you ice cream or drinks while you lookout over the entire island. Don't waste your time with a tour operator. Rent a car (not a buggy, they are a disaster!!) and drive yourself to the top. That way you can stay as long as you like!

“This is a Must See”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2005

This was my favorite spot on Moorea. It's a scary drive up (make sure you have plenty of gas), but stop at the Agricultural School for a free tasting and at the Marae for a nice hike. Come for sunrise or sunset...it's beautiful!

“Worth the scary drive!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2005

We hired a car for the day and decided to take a trip up to the Belvedere lookout. The drive up the narrow twisty mountain road is an experience all unto itself. Once you reach the top (it is really 3/4 of the way up) the view is quite magnificent. In fron of you, you are greeted by views of Cooks bay to your right and Opanahu bay to the left, it really has to be seen. It is a little bit cooler up at the lokout so take a cover up if you get cold easily. On the way down there are a couple of places to stop and look at a few temple ruins which is very interesting, not only for the ruins but also for the spooky walk through the forest to get to them.
