We spent five nights on Moorea including celebrating our wedding anniversary. The property had all the amenities you could imagine and even if you attempt to stump the staff with a request, they will find a way to accommodate it. We didn’t test this; however the hotel exceeded our expectations! Having reserved a beach bungalow through SPG platinum using points, we were upgraded to an OWB at the end of the sunrise platform. We could not have asked (or found) a better location for us. We woke each morning to stunning sunrises and enjoyed sunsets from the platform furthest away from us. The hotel offers water sports and a fitness center which we used daily.

We did book spa services. The Mandara Spa is well known, however the experience was only satisfactory – not exceptional. Perhaps it was the particular day or their standard, however it did not make for the most relaxing component as there was not any sign of decadence.

The island offers tranquility and having brought a rental car over from Tahiti on the ferry made everything accessible to us. The landscape of the island is quite dramatic and beautiful. We often went off-roading (thanks to our SUV) and took short hikes. We were able to enjoy many secluded beaches along the way – amazing!

Note: Special accolades go out to Chef Patrick and his team! Patrick had advance knowledge of our dietary needs and made arrangements to speak with us. The meals he prepared were creative, absolutely tasty and made with his je ne se qua. If it were up to us, we would have every meal prepared by Patrick; however he isn’t too interested in moving to NYC.

We stayed at the Sheraton Moorea for 3 nights in June as a family vacation. We had a lovely garden bungalow that attached to my father's garden bungalow. My brother and girlfriend stayed in a beach bungalow. The snorkeling was excellent! The beach and pool were fun places to enjoy the ambiance and each others company. The service was great, even delivery of fresh fruit once every afternoon to each guest at the beach. A very nice extra touch. The food was great for breakfast and dinner at the resort. Each meal was a dining experience, it was not rushed. The only negative was Polenesia night on Tuesday, we were expecting something a lot more fantastic. We enjoyed the polynesia show at Le Tahaa immensely. We had one dinner out at the Mayflower which was fantastic. We took the 4X4 trip and enjoyed it. The most fun eas the snorkeling and kayaking. A very good time was had.

“A really nice place”

Sheraton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa

We stayed at the Sheraton in both a garden view bungalow and a beach bunglaow. The grounds are lovely, nicely landscaped, and the view of the mountains and lagoon can't be beat. If you like to snorkel than this is a great spot for it. Both our bungalows were beautifully furnished. The only English TV statio is CNN. We requested and recieved beach bunglaow 52, in my opinion the best one, as it is the most secluded and is the only one with an unobstructed view of the ocean. The other beach bungalows look at the over water bungalows and/or the beach huts.

Service was slow, but that was common all over the island. The crepe restaurant was good. And breakfast at the nice restaurant in the only good deal we found. The snack bar was average.

Everything was expensive as we were warned, but being from the San Francisco Bay Area it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.

We had a very late flight and they arranged a bunglaow for us to use for 30 minutes to clean up, which was nice. In general, anything that was not right they fixed within a reasonable amount of time. We are Starwood Gold members, and I don't know if this made any difference in service at all.

We stayed at the Sheraton from 04/20/07 to 04/25/07. During our stay, we got married on the hotel's beach. The staff went out of their way to make it an unforgettable experience. The hotel is very well maintained and beautifully decorated. The best part of the hotel is the lagoon that stretches out for hundreds of yards off the beach. We spent most of our time snorkeling the lagoon and checking out the endless coral formations and exotic fish. Although it's a great resort, we did venture out and experience the island, which is much more laid back and less populated than Tahiti. We rented a car and drove into the interior up to Belvidere Point, which overlooks the two bays on the north side of the island. Along the way we stopped at a pineapple plantation and a juice factory (They give you free samples of juice along with free shots of liquor-very cool!). We tooled around the island and found numerous public beaches mostly used by the locals. All of the beaches looked like they were off of a postcard! At night we went to the Tiki Village for the dinner and show. We heard some negative things about the place and their food, but it turned out to be a fun experience. The dance show was outstanding, and the food were local dishes that they cooked in traditional underground ovens. We thought the food was fantastic, which was mostly barbecued chicken and pork. You also get a tour of the grounds and learn about traditional Polynesian craftworks and songs. Overall, we had a great time and recommend it if you want to experience a little more about the island and its people. If you get a chance, inquire about a day trip to the motus (small islands) off the northwest coast of the island. The Intercontinental runs a boat service to and from the motus for about $8 apiece. On one of the motus there is a small outdoor restaurant/bar that served some of the best food we had tasted during our entire stay. We ate lunch and snorkeled (snorkeling gear was provided by Intercontinental) the rest of day between the two motus, which offered some of the best coral formations around the island. We visited Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora during our whole stay, and I would say that Moorea was by far the best island. However, Bora Bora had the most spectacular water and coral formations, but the main island seemed somewhat dumpy. Tahiti was nice, but I'd skip it if I were to return.
