Boy, I wish I'd found the other review before booking this place. I did not expect it to be particularly spectacular, but their website leads one to believe that this place is at least decent, and that the proprieters are at least organized. Ummm, nooooooo. No one was there to welcome us; we had to hunt someone down at the cafe next door to let us in. Our room was in poor repair and looked and smelled like a relic from the seventies, carpet included. The toiletries provided in the room consisted of shampoos and other items scavenged from other hotels, can you believe (La Quinta, etc). The room was cold so I turned the thermostat from "off" to 70 and we went to get dinner figuring that the room would have warmed up by the time we got back. Except that the manager came in while we were gone for the two hours and turned it back off . . . ..
Breakfast? Well, it was exactly the same both mornings and I felt like I was at McDonalds. Exactly two pieces of bacon each, exactly one piece of french toast each, exactly two scoops (yes, scoops, like it was put on the place with an ice cream scoop) of eggs thinned by water and milk almost to nonexistence, some potatoes and a small bowl of fruit with plastic wrap over it. There was ENOUGH food, but it really exemplified the whole place: provide as little as possible, as cheaply as possible. Nickel-and-dime it.
The proptietress was nice, but her morning cheer at breakfast didn't make up for everything else. I usually go to a B&B to get AWAY from the assembly-line, impersonal feel of a hotel or motel. In this case, they should rename themselves to Denali Manor Motel, reduce their prices and be done with it.
