I now know why this was the only Hotel in Denali not booked up!
The Lazy J can be summed up in 1 word - flimsy.
We stayed in a dingy room in the main "hotel", which felt as if it had been thrown together out of furniture saved from skips.
The curtaining was a thin sheet that hung badly, and far away from the wall. In the height of an Alaskan summer, with no hours of darkness, it made sleep hard to come by. Also, as our room was at the front, we had to contend with people walking past the window and being able to glance in before slamming the door inches behind our heads and shaking everything in the room.
The shower cubicle fell apart as you touched its walls, and the shower head stuck out of the wall and waggled wildly while in use. Finally, the toilet was mounted on a mini pedestal and leant backwards. Hilarious!
In all fairness, the Lazy J wasn't dirty, and the food was good ("The Only Salad Bar In Town!"), but the overall experience isn't one I'd recommend. This was easily the shonkiest place we stayed on our entire trip. It's marginally preferable to camping, I guess.
