Stopped for a snack and rest during a family ATV trip last summer. Look forward to spending more time here!

Since moving to Anchorage from the lower 48 in June 09 our family has visited/stayed and played at Alpine Creek Lodge Many times. This is a great spot in the middle of Alaska to drive into in the summer easy access to go 4 wheeling, hiking, hunting, wildlife viewing/photos or just hang around the out door fire and swap stories. In the winter the Lodge comes to life with snow machiners, and some real Alaskan trappers and characters. The time spent getting into - and while at Alpine Creek Lodge has given us amazing stories and memories that will go with us now matter where we travel from here. Even if your not "big" on the outdoor stuff - the minute you walk into the Lodge you feel the comfort and in no time will be kicking off your boots and relaxing infront of the wood stove with a cup of never-ending coffee! Dont be suprised if Samson (the sweetest lodge dog ever) joins you :-) This place is off the easily beaten path .. but thats where all the TREASURES are !!
SEE YOU THERE!

We didn't stay the night, but we did drop in to check out the place and the owner made breakfast for us. The breakfast was excellent! The building is a newly constructed log cabin with a rustic feel. The location is next door to paradise.

They picked us up in Anchorage at the airport, and we had an amazingly beautiful ride to the Lodge. The scenery was unbelievable. Once you turn off the pavement and drive on the Denali highway you are in very remote Alaska but you can drive to it. The lodge is on the side of a mountain with spectacular views from about 100 feet of deck on the south side overlooking a truly amazing landscape. Behind the lodge is a very short and easy climb to the first of many beautiful alpine meadows, the whole area is absolutely full of wildlife from birds to moose, bear, Carabou and Wolves. The staff was fabulous and the food was great. The rooms are rustic and lovely. The staff had an encyclopedic knowledge of the area, they had ATVs to take guests on sightseeing trips and hiking would have been simple right from the lodge. This place was perfect and I will return again next fall, would reccomend it to anybody.

August 2009
On a recent trip around Alaska, we left Cantwell, and turned right onto the Denali Highway to cross the 135 mile stretch to Paxson. The gravel road was excellent, and traveling beyond 30mph was possible, but with all the beautful scenery, you seldom went over 20mph. After we crossed the Big Su (Susitna River) at mile 80, we were sidehilling the Clearwater Mountains, and at mile 68 found our destination! This brand new, massive log structure with amazing views awaited us. Alpine Creek Lodge is owned by a local family who are living thier dream! The rooms were very comfortable, and I can't state enough how amazing the views were. Great hiking, fishing, biking, and all things outdoors are available at this destination. Atv rentals were available, and there is a lot of things to see and do in the immediate area. We especially enjoyed the family style dining at a huge wooden table in the main dining area of the lodge. We were amazed to learn that the lodge was free for kids under 12, and half price from 12 to 18. Price was great at $75 per person per night, and this included all meals!! This was truly a stop that none of our family will ever forget, and we hope to make it up again soon!

We are a wilderness lodge in remote Alaska. We are open year round, every day. Alpine Creek Lodge is on the Denali Highway, so travelers can get there in the summer easily. In the winter, the road is not plowed from October 1st to May 15th. During this period, snow machine, dog mushing, skiing, etc are the only way to get to us. This requires a 65 mile ride on the snow from Cantwell, and 68 miles from Paxson! We are on the side of the Alaska Range, and this is where you will find real Alaska! ... more   less
