We booked Country Inn & Suites for a couple of nights to recover from our trip from the UK before heading further afield. Weren't expecting much, just a clean hotel, close to the airport, helpful staff and decent but not spectacular food.

Well, the hotel is near to the airport but fails on all other aspects.

Clean Hotel?
Rooms are a good size but are not clean. Very tatty - not been updated since 1989. Air conditioning in our first room sounded like a helicopter and in the second didn't work at all.

Helpful Staff?
Their approach is akin to crowd control rather than customer service which is probably explained by the number of American teenagers at the hotel on school trips. They did try on occasion but failed to impress us.

Decent Food?
The food is above average but the restaurant is small and often mobbed by school trips. Eat there for breakfast, go out for lunch/dinner and avoid the school kids at all costs.

In summary - Ok for one night if you are planning to move on. Totally unsuitable for exploring the city or for any kind of restful break.

I have staid in several hotels of this chain in the U.S. and found them to be first class. This one was the exception. The room was very small, hard to get to, and very dirty. The air conditioner was not working on a very humid night and when someone repaired it, it worked for another 15 minutes and stopped again.

So, to cut a long story short I didn't sleep a week due to heavy dust and sweating heat. In the morning they claimed I had used several bottles from the mini-bar, which I had not. So in a nutshell, this is a dirty, hot box of a hotel and they stole from me.

Hotel with huge rooms but in terrible condition and with lousy service! First room bed was completely soaked with water. dripping from roof. At first they said that I couldn't change rooms because the hotel was full. Finally switched me to a "Junior Suite." Huge room with three beds and two baths. BUT...must walk up four flights of stairs to get there. AC did not work, Macdonalds wrappers on bed from previous guests. Empty minibar. Bed smelled strongly of urine. And to top it all off, on second day, it took three trips up and down the stairs and 45 minutes of waiting just to get into my room, with something wrong with the lock. Aweful experience - heed the warnings!!

One good note - I saw the Presidential Suite, which looked fine, but if you are going to pay that much go somewhere else!

Checked into the room and found that of the five lights only two worked. My wife and I like reading. When we requested light bulbs the desk clerk told us nothing could be done until next morning. Same request on the following morning with the same result: no light bulbs. Bathroom shower has no curtain or shower door and water goes all over the place including on the toilet. Not a pleasant situation when that happens. Fixtures need a good cleaning. We requested the front desk to send us to museum and they sent us to the wrong place after expensive cab ride. They throw in breakfast which is terrible. What is really sad is that this place could be a real first class place if management got it together. Right now they dont.
