Myself and some friends landed in San Jose on our way to Nuevo Arenal and decided to spend two nights in the capital. Mainly, we wanted to go east to the Orosi Valley to look up Casa del Sonador. Macendinio Quesada's son's Miguel and Hermes continue the family tradition of carvings made from native coffee plants. Well worth the side trip. Anyway, we found the proprietors and staff very accommodating, the rooms were very comfortable and you can upgrade your bed and breakfast meal in their cafe and it is well worth it. In the cities, you should leave your vehicle in attended lots and La Gioconda has an arrangement with a local attended lot for a reduced price. Just be sure to always have the voucher from the Inn, otherwise they charge you full price.
