“Didn't disappoint!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

This was our 3rd trip to Costa Rica. We stayed at the Adventure Inn in July 2011 and were really impressed. We couldn't stay in July 2013 because of a tour, but we happily returned in December 2013 at the start and end of our trip. Much to our delight, it seems the rooms had been updated and were even more comfortable than before. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and dinner was really good too. But what really makes this place stand out is the people - from the front desk staff, to the restaurant staff, to the owners. They appear to have thought of everything the traveler needs. Free phone calls - even to the U.S., free computers where you can print your boarding passes and they will even pack a "to go" breakfast. We know that wasn't our last trip to Costa Rica and we will be back at the Adventure Inn as well!

Room Tip: We've been in a couple of locations and didn't have problems anywhere.

I had to make last-minute accommodations to spend the night in San Jose, and since I had stayed here before with my two small (well-behaved!) dogs, Adventure Inn was my first call. I think they did some rearranging to enable me to stay there, and I was, once again, super satisfied with the experience. For an additional charge of $10 per dog (very reasonable to me) I was given a nice spacious room on the first floor that, incidentally, was also fully equipped and conveniently located for persons with disabilities. The restaurant is good (and reasonably priced!), the staff helpful, and the overall experience excellent.

The adventure Inn has cornered a big part of the market for people arriving in or leaving Costa Rica thru the San Jose Airport, and they do a great job at this task. The Inn itself is not much, a small facility by the side of the main highway 10 minutes from the airport. It has large clean rooms, with two king beds, sufficient hot water, good TVs and wifi, a bunch of computers available for your use in a second floor common area. small adequate workout room, pool with a jaccuzi off the back of the bar/restaurant (not hot enough but ok). Continental breakfast, cereal fruit toast juice coffee is included, other options a la carte. Not much in the way of any grounds, the Inn takes up the whole site. You can walk around the area a little, behind the Inn is a large very upscale gated neighborhood, five minutes down the road is a new small shopping plaza called the fresh market with a few expensive restaurants, a small supermarket, some shops. Not sure if you would want to be walking around that much at nite, the homes seem to have a lot of security even in the gated area, lots of bars, barbed wire, fences, etc., which implied a crime issue. This appears to be true of the whole San Jose/Alejueja area, but not so common once outside the urban zone.

The staff at the Inn are extremely helpful and pleasant. As part of the room rate, they have a free shuttle to and from the airport. They will arrange tours, transfers, rental cars, etc. And they do a great job with all of this. We arrived late afternoon just before xmas, got there without issue. The next day they had arranged for a rental car from an outfit called Mapache, w. Delivered on time, exactly as advertised. Not cheap, but a brand new small 4 wheel drive SUV with GPS and a local phone package (you need the GPS!!) for about $1200 for 12 days, including the extra insurance which seems to be a good idea.

We planned to stay another note after New Years and fly out the next day. Big storm back home, we stayed another day, no problem, and they arranged a van with a driver so we could go up to the Poas Volcano for a day, $100. The staff was great, especially Manfred.

If you need a jumping off point to get in and put of the country, and especially if you want some help planning or making arrangements, these are the folks to take care of you.

We stayed three different times (all varying amounts of time) in December 2013. It was the best hotel we stayed in. We moved around Costa Rica all December and stayed in 5 places. Of the hotels, this one was the most outstanding. The customer service, the friendliness of all the staff, the willingness to go out of the way and help us, the quality of the food, the location, the planning of excursions were all wonderful. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Thank you, Adventure Inn, for making our 10 year anniversary vacation to Costa Rica a wondrous trip.

The staff at Adventure Inn were very accommodating and were able to find an extra bed for us. The breakfast was fresh and very good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I thought this hotel was a very good value.

We spent 9 days at this little gem. Owned by a Canadian, so that was cool. We loved the staff at the hotel, the cleaning ladies and our dear hostess Jeanette, wait staff and cooks at the Moon Glow restaurant. The food was exceptional and we ate many of our meals there because of that. Please see below for the negatives of this hotel, in our opinion....

Room Tip: Three negatives I have to share. One, the hotel is noisy. At 5 am when the staff is getting ready fo...

We have just returned from our wonderful trip to Costa Rica over the Christmas season. One of the things that made our trip outstanding was our time at the Adventure Inn. We stayed at the Adventure Inn for two nights at the start, and three nights at the end of our trip. We booked several excellent tours through them including the 8 In 1, Authentic Costa Rica, Izazu Volcano, Toucan Rescue Ranch (up close and personal with the animals), and our favorite, a four day-three night stay at the Turtle Beach Lodge in Tortuguero which was outstanding. We very much enjoyed all the tours - especially the special attention given by Jorge & Lauren on the private Authentic Costa Rica tour & by Gerardo on the Toucan Rescue Tour. The real stars of the Adventure Inn are the staff - from Mary and all the front desk staff to Janett and the staff in the Moon Glow Restaurant (also excellent), we were always greeted with a smile, great service, and attention to detail. Staying at the Adventure Inn gave us the best of both worlds - we could stay at a very comfortable hotel and let them take care of all of the details for the tour activities (tons to choose from, see their great web site for details). The included excellent breakfast & free airport transfers are nice bonuses as well. Although we did not utilize it, they have free international phone calls as well. Eric & Richard always replied very promply to our email questions prior to our departure. We were extremely pleased with our stays at the Adventure Inn, would highly recommend them, and plan to stay with them again on our next Costa Rica visit. Well done Adventure Inn!! Rob & Laurie C. Room Tip: We had romm #'s 26 & 28 and they were both quite & excellent
