My husband and I, with our two teenagers, stayed at Adventure Inn last week twice - one night upon arrival from the airport and again the night before our departure. We found this to be the perfect place to become familiar with Costa Rica in a comfortable setting before we ventured out.
We stayed in rooms 35 and 28. Both were large and clean, with coffee makers. Room 35 had a mini fridge and microwave too, while room 28 included an addition bed (twin). Both rooms overlooked the pool. Room 35 required a walk up a couple short flights of stairs but we received help with our luggage. Room 28 was on the ground level. Beds were comfortable and toiletries were provided. A/C worked well, though we enjoyed having the windows open to feel the breeze. Wifi was a little iffy in room 35 but in 28 it was fine (and it was great by the pool). We were quite happy to be able to have free Wifi. There was a flat screen TV but we used it very little.
We really appreciated the extra amenities that were included in our rate/reservation. The hotel arranged for airport pickup, and even though our flight was delayed, there was a friendly face with my name on his sign and he was happy to guide us to our Interbus van. The hotel offers free international calls, which I've never seen anywhere before. We had dinner at the hotel's Moon Glow restaurant and had a chance to try some local food. We loved the included breakfast the next morning, with made-to-order dishes and exotic local fruits.
The small pool was a nice place to hang out and relax. On our last morning, check out wasn't until noon and this is great if you have late afternoon flights. From the hotel, you can walk to a gourmet fresh market/grocery store and also a large souvenir shop that had reasonable prices (and a little bit of everything you could imagine!). Check out was smooth, with a 10% discount for paying cash in US dollars. The hotel called a taxi for our return trip to the airport. We really felt like all the little details were taken care of for us, with no hassle on those hectic first and last travel days. Staff was courteous and other visitors seemed to be having a good time in a warm atmosphere.
The hotel is not a luxury hotel and I'm sure it's an older property, but it was delightfully decorated and a bit quirky, which our family loves to experience. My rating is based on the overall experience and value, with this caveat in mind. We would definitely stay there again! Pura Vida.
