“Lovely!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013 via mobile

This is a must for church viewers. It's a beautiful cathedral that watches over the city in all its glory. Definitely good to the eyes! Make sure a wander through all of the church as well as the lovely grounds. Peace be with you.

“Worth a walk through”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

If you like churches this one's worth a stop. We spent about 40 minutes walking through the church and viewing the grounds. It's in the center of the city.

“Beautiful and peaceful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

I thought this church was really quite beautiful and peaceful. I made a quick stop here while waiting for my tour to start at the National Theater (the church is just a couple blocks away from the theater). If you're in the area, it's worth a stop. The tiles floors are so pretty, and the architecture inside is lovely. Regarding the safety of the area, I'm a female traveler who was traveling alone and I didn't felt unsafe or threatened here.

“Centrally Located, Well Preserved”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

This is a great example of a Spanish church in downtown San Jose. It is near all the museums and government buildings downtown, so it is a convenient stop.

It is free to walk in and peak around.

“Only if you have extra time to use”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

This place is ok if you are religious, but for a more historic church, you need to take the bus from San Jose to Cartago,
to visit the pilgrimage centre of the Black Madonna.
