“FASCINATING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

The National museum is but a short walk from central San Jose...located in a beautiful park..as you enter you go through the Butterfly Sanctuary...there are literately thousands of butterfly s...all types and stages...showing how butterflys change from larvae to butterfly..they will actually land on your hand and arm..I even had one land on my nose...as you exit the sanctuary...you are transported back in history...the the beginning of Central America...and pre history...the exhibits are well laid out..descriptions in both Spanish and English...definitely recommend those with children...

Its a nice little museum. Nothing super special but if you have time and want a quick history lesson, I would definitely visit it.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

We spent over two hours there and found it a pretty good source of their history though my husband wants to do more reading about it. I agree with another reviewer about the huge jump in time. There could be more about the last fifty years. The butterflies were fun, especially those hanging from the chrysalises.
