Hate to be negative, but decided to stay here after reading all the positive reviews ... and felt it'd be wrong not to give another viewpoint to others who haven't been yet. Proprietor (Ginette) happened to be attending her daughter's wedding in Canada during our stay, but we found this out upon our arrival rather than up-front. Woke up the first morning to NO water for the entire B&B. Found out that night that a gardener had inadvertently turned off the main water valve to the house. Staff was friendly enough, but not as knowledgable or able to communicate in English as we are sure Ginette would have been. Bath towels were thread bare. Linens old. Breakfasts sparse. Too far and too dangerous to walk to anything. Felt a bit like a prison as most homes in Escazu now have become fortresses to safeguard against vandalism. We'll be returning to Costa Rica ... but we won't be returning to Casa Laurin.
