Worth the puzzle of finding amongst the warren of one-way, mostly unmarked streets, but once there, it's all somehow logical in a Costaricense way. Remember, almost ANY driving maneuver is eminently acceptable here; just join the scramble and watch your mirrors.
The Aranjuez is well managed and friendly. There are many interesting items to observe throughout, particularly their displays of mounted Boruca carved masks, most of antique caliber with original muted colors instead of like the glossy painted ones you find today. Don't expect a fancy, glossy establishment though. The hotel is also antique, and probably very typical of earlier, less sophisticated times in Costa Rica, including traditional hospitality and construction. The rooms are adequate although minimalistic, and kept quite clean and comfortable. They take great pride in the breakfast served, and the gardens surrounding are private and lush. Overall a fun place to stay, providing an ample taste of authentic Costa Rica fast disappearing.

Dear: Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us and Trip Advisor users. You are exactly right when you mention that Hotel Aranjuez provides “an ample taste of authentic Costa Rica fast disappearing”. In fact, our mission is to provide our customers with an "autochthonous lodging experience" based on our commitment to preservation and rescue of our cultural heritage. Therefore we work every day to recover our traditions which involves the rescue of our architectural heritage, the hospitality of our people, our culinary tradition and environmental conservation. By the way, besides our collection of Boruca masks, from today, we are having a beautiful art exhibition. Two Costarrican female artists are exposing their art: Barrionuevo and Patricia Rucavado. Our futures customers will be delighted and trapped by the details and colorful of these two artists. Once again thank you for your extensive commentary. ¡Hasta pronto!
