“Wonderful staff and fantastic atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

We stayed here for the first few nights of our trip to Costa Rica with our 8 month old baby. The hotel is beautiful because it has nature built right in! We stayed in the main building and in the new apartment-hotel building and both rooms were comfortable. The internet signal in the new building was not working very well, but the room was very nice. The service is what puts this over the top, however. The staff was so lovely all the time but the litmus test came when I (stupidly) cut my thumb open with the blender I was using to make baby food. It happened right beside the breakfast room and every staff member that came into contact with me was fantastic! The one of the cleaning staff gave me first aid while the reception staff made arrangements to get me to the emergency room...they even got the taxi to take me there an come back tot he hotel later for payment! One of the cleaning staff even cleaned the dreaded blender for us!! The chef kept some breakfast warm for us and served it to us in our room when we got back from the hospital. It's a lovely place but the people make it even better!

Room Tip: Rooms in the new building did not have god wifi signal when we were there.

We stayed here on two separate occasions and liked both times.
Very convenient location, just a short walk to the museums and the pedestrian street.
Very comfortable room. We had a double room with shared bathroom and bathrooms are numerous and always clean.
Breakfast is unbeatable! Never seen such a big and delicious variety, they even make you omelettes/eggs/pancakes on the spot.
Staff attentive and helpful.

We stayed there last year in Sept. Amazing little court yard with a GREAT breakfast buffet. Loved the variety of rooms. Great staff! Easy to get to from the airport and close to the local transportation. Would recommend this place to anyone! Will be back for sure!

This place was recommended to us by fellow travelers in place of another hotel we did not care for. I loved it! There were a variety of rooms, all different. Beautiful grounds with a great variety of artwork throughout the twisting pathways. The room was spacious enough. We had a Standard at $49 US but it had three beds- one for luggage! Shower was fine. You could hear quite a bit as we were in room 7 right in front of the two free-use computers. We were also street side so not super quiet. All calls in Costa Rica are free as well which was helpful. Beds were comfortable. Staff super friendly and helpful on every single shift. Hotel was full of foreigners from all over the world. Two restaurants were less than two blocks away. Local tour company in the hotel has every option you could possibly ask for. Also check out "Chile Tours" and ask for Jorge. Much lower key than 40 people on a tour bus! He sticks to your schedule. The breakfast is honestly worth every cent. There were 10 different breads, homemade jams, pancakes and eggs to order, fruit of every kind, many regional dishes and it was not the same thing each day. Still dreaming about the coffee!

We spent a few nigths in hotel Aranjuez. As far as we're concerned this was the only pleasant place in San Jose. Staff was very kind, problems were solved quickly. Rooms were good for their price. Staff had made a small error (that we did'nt even complain about) in cleaning our room and we were directly offered a discount of 50%. Breakfast was the best we have had in four weeks of Costa Rica. Lots of little tasty things, fruit, juices and other lovely things. And all that in an oasis of tranquility in the middlemof San Jose!

Hotel Aranjuez is an quirky hotel that looks like a string of once private homes connected together to form a labyrinth of halls leading to hidden rooms. The location is nothing special, the rooms are spacious and clean yet basic and no frills, and the breakfast is excellent. In our two weeks traveling through costa rica, we didn't experience another breakfast like it. For about $50 it's a great value hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for only three nights when passing through San Jose and found it to be comfortable and nice place to stay.
We stayed in superior and superior pluss rooms that were nice, big and clean each with its own character. The receptionists were nice and helpful with ordering the taxies and answering the questions we had. The hotel is located in a quiet, nice neighbourhood within a walking distance from the downtown.

The most charming feature of this hotel is its architecture. The hotel is formed by several houses joined togeather by gardens and hallways. A good breakfast in the middle of the garden surrounded by flowers and trees is an experience of its own. My son got extatic when he saw a colibri while eating breakfast.

If its your first time in the hotel, remember that people stand up and go to bed early in Costa Rica and the rooms do not have the best sound isolation, so the place needs to be quiet in the evenings. Another thing to know is that it can take a day or two before you get an answer to your reservation request.

All in all, most charming place to stay.
