We loved the Hampton Inn. Yes, it is an American style chain hotel, but at the end of our stay in Costa Rica, it was great to arrive here. Friendly staff, great buffet breakfast, three minute complimentary van ride to the airport, and very comfortable beds. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I'm back in San Jose.

The front desk staff is extremely helpful & friendly. It felt like we were being treated like VIP members. The room itself is nothing special (the suite is much nicer), the windows don't open, and the view is of construction & highway, but the staff almost make up for it all with their kindness & wealth of info (except the tour-desk staff, he was not very nice OR helpful and barely ever around). The front desk even drew us maps to help us navigate by car.

The hotel is located close enough to drive from downtown in about 5-8 minutes, and is close to alot of the main roads that we needed to get us to sites such as Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfalls, and Irazu Volcano. Each of those spots are 1hr or less away from this hotel and were excellent day trips.

Breakfast was a standard continental buffet, but with delicious fresh fruit.

Stayed at this hotel for one night after arriving at Costa Rica airport late at night.
It was very easy to find, parking was free and check in was very quick.
The room was large with two king beds which was SOOOO comfy. The room was exactly what you would expect of a hotel of this standard except it did not have a mini bar which would have been nice. Also did not have room service which would have been nice, however, large room, large bed, clean bathroom, large tv and aircon - can't fault it.
The hotel gives you free internet access which was very handy and easy to use. There is free coffee at reception all day and night as well as a coffee machine in your room.
Breakfast was quite basic and unfortunately you had to drink your coffee out of plastic cups.
For comfort this hotel was great. Perfect location for the airport also.

We stayed at this hotel because it was conveniently located in relation to our car rental place and and the airport. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was OK. Probably the best sleep I had in Costa Rica... Until the maids started running the vacuum cleaners at about 6:30am... That was my only minor complaint but we had to leave early in the morning anyways... So no big deal with this. By the way they have shuttle service to the airport. I would definitely stay there again.
