I would highly recommend this hotel. The grounds are beautiful, and the staff was incredible. Carlos went above and beyond in accommodating me and figuring out what was in my best interest in figuring out transportation to and from the hotel. Unlike other places, where they will help with touring because they get a cut of the cost, Carlos helped out immensely just because he's that kind of a person. The chef in the restaurant was equally as wonderful (I've forgotten his name!). His breakfast was great, and he was careful in wanting to fix exactly what I wanted. He and his wife were a joy to visit with. I love supporting people and businesses whose primary concern and approach is customer service!!

We stayed here prior to a group tour and found the hotel to be simple, clean and have friendly staff. Any thing going on in the halls and next rooms could be easily heard at night.

We stayed here when the hotel we wanted to stay was booked. The room was decent size with a king bed. It had an rank smell. The bathroom smelled like sewer. The people were helpful and friendly. The terrace was a great place to sit and meet other travelers. The ¨breakfast¨ was a piece of toast, banana and coffee. Would love to recommend this place only because we meet some great people here, but would not stay again. The location is fantastic.

Reception staff - mostly business-like but not friendly. Basic hotel. Has a little restaurant at the side for breakfast/evening meals - the chef is the kindest man (and very friendly). Guests appear to be allowed to take prostitutes back to their rooms and the staff don't seem bothered. I have no issues with this except when I have an early flight and there is a racket next door. Guests were told half a dozen times but the receptionist (night manager) did nothing. Eventually, at 4am, they were finally removed. 1st two prostitutes were eventually asked to leave due to me complaining but manager allowed another one in. they were also taking drugs but the manager wasn't bothered. So if this is your bag, please stay here.

Rooms are small, bathrooms very small, there was a stain on one of the sheets (although it had certainly been laundered), but for the price it was really just fine. What noise there is comes from the street, not the other rooms. Bring earplugs--it's near a railroad line. The breakfast is fruit, toast, juice, and coffee, and if you want something more elaborate, it's available for a couple of dollars. People are very friendly. It's not luxurious in any sense, but if this is what you need, it's okay.

Room Tip: Second floor away from the street is probably a little quieter.

I stayed here three nights before a group tour with Intrip travel.........in a residental area close to walking to major sites.......walls are thin,bring eyeplugs if you sleep light...TV did not work..........do have hot water ( let it run for a while to get it).........free wireless internet....
hotel is OK........nothing special......clean,,,,,,,the included breatfast should not be called breakfast at all.......you will leave hungry......you can upgrade and buy a real breakfast at the rest.........The rest is Italian for lunch & dinner..........which is good.......I paid $50 for a single room...If you find a better hotel for th same price.........take it..........this hotel is ok for a one night stay.........not for long term,,,,,,no AC........just a fan in the room

Room Tip: as for a room away from the front desk.........(they may talk all night and keep you awake)

I haven’t stayed at Hotel Vesuvio, my youngest daughter did and I need to share my experience dealing with them.
I needed to change my daughter’s airport transfer in San Jose, as she had missed her connection in Miami, due to airline delay.
As she had had a frightening encounter with a bag snatcher in Guatemala, she didn’t want to just take a taxi from the airport to Hotel Vesuvio, at night.
It was very early Saturday morning, in Australia and we had no way of contacting our travel agent or her tour company.
I emailed Hotel Vesuvio, explained the situation and asked if they had a driver who could pick her up on arrival.
Within an hour, I had 2 replies from them and not long after, my daughter’s tour guide contacted us, saying he would arrange for a new transfer.
She arrived safely at Vesuvio and after a restful night of sleep, was ready to start her tour, the following day.
I can’t thank the staff at Hotel Vesuvio enough for their professional attitude and assistance.
They are also holding a small parcel that we posted from Australia, which my daughter will collect, at the end of her tour. I was notified, as soon as it arrived.
These are the little things, which make a big difference.
