“Lasted one hour.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Left this hotel within an hour.
When we arrived, the beds sheets were stained, bathroom dirty, our "balcony with a view" was a noisy outlook onto the dirty rooms opposite and the only "air conditioning" was horrible and was extremely loud.
The pictures of the pool is NOT what it is like.
Once stepping out the hotel we had to hold on to our wallets and run! Never turned back.

You arrive at reception, are pleasantly surprised at the proper check in desk, you sneak a peak at the published rates above the desk and think to yourself you've just snagged the bargain of the century by booking it online!! Well, every online hotel site offers rooms for just under $40.... so the those published prices are perhaps remiscent of a bygone age, or of missed aspirations....
My rooms were pretty good.... I had 3 within a couple of hours as my first 2 I found the a/c only worked when accompanied by a deafening noise that would not have allowed me to sleep.... when I complained about the first one I overhead the front desk staff saying that was yet another occasion they had had to move people from that room... mmmm.... maybe time to do something about it!!
Anyway, I ended up with a much nicer kingsize room... with working a/c so for the bargain price its a pretty good deal really. Even the other rooms were good except for the a/c....
I realised after nearly an hour of wandering around that there was no obvious decent dining choice nearby so returned to the hotel restaurant.... I've lived in Central America for 5 years so I know Central American service can be (If you want decent service then go to the more tourist oriented places on the coasts, or go to South American capital cities who have more visitors!).
So the steak I asked for was quite good actually.... the vegetables I asked for were.... well, a salad... but no point in complaining, I was starving.... the bernaise sauce would not have been good enough to come from a packed of powdered mix you can surely get from any food distributor.. but again, its Central America..... but when I realised the swirly red and yellow designs on my plate were actually ketchup and squeezy cheese then I just had to smile and laugh to myself....
The tables next to me had not had plates cleared from previous diners.... which was not the best environment....
But overall, if you have a sense of humour then for the price you can sleep and get fed, which after all was what I was there for....

Friendly service, clean, hot water, reasonably quiet. Booked on Expedia for $36 for two double beds, in small, clean room. Full breakfast with fresh omelet made to your taste, fresh fruit, and more. Staff very helpful. Front desk staff knew English well.

The breakfast was awesome. The rooms are huge but in need of remodeling. Nice casino and restaurant at hotel. The staff were very helpful. The pool was a little run down with no views. The free parking was nice once I found it. This is a great value for $40 a night.

Location is scary (turn left and get robbed turn right and walk fast!) Internet is poor, food is very poor, service is poor, quality of rooms is poor (just run down) and if you like hospital styled hallways and a rough night club in the foyer, you will love this over priced hotel.

I stayed here one night after my flight. The staff were friendly and efficient and spoke perfect English. The room was adequate, nothing to write home about, with dated furniture, however the bed was very comfortable and the ac worked well. I had an interior room, so street noise did not bother me, however if you are on the street side, I can see how this would be annoying. the rack rate would be too much, but I got it on hotels.com for 33$ (worth that price for sure). If you are accustomed to 4 and 5 star hotels, you will not like this place. If you are used to budget travel, this will be a great find.

I really liked this hotel. Check in was simple although they did not have the Room I reserved with Expedia, they were very apologetic and offered to upgrade as soon as possible. The lobby was very nice and the staff was very professional and did everything they could to accommodate. The room had large closets with hangers TV was good the safe for this room had no key the bathroom was clean and had pleanty of towels soap and shampoo hot water a/c worked quiet but was not needed much the Resturant was classey but the dinner buffet was not good, however the Breakfast was very good with many options and was substantial. Location is wonderful right in the center of San Jose only 4 blocks from central ave within walking distance of everything. Hope to stay here again soon.

Room Tip: I had a first floor room next to the street so buses and traffic noise by day after 10 quiet until 6
