“A great adult hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

The hotel has everything a single traveler needs. The rooms and room service was fantastic and everyone was helpful. The cigar bar in the hotel was an added treat where you can sit, smoke, and relax. The staff was helpful on arrainging tours for me and explaining the city. I will repeat!

Room Tip: The stairs to the 2nd floor were a little shaky if you have a friend in heels visiting you.

Boyd and Greg are putting together a nice "guy" boutique hotel/sports bar/cigar bar. When I saw the rooms on a previous trip, I was surprised at how much they have improved.

The big additions this fall was adding food service at the bar and getting enough TVs on the wall to justify calling it a sports bar. The food is generally what you'd expect for breakfast, and bar food for lunch and dinner. The food quality for a sports bar is superb. Boyd bought the NFL package - this is a great place to hang out on a Sunday now, and watch some football.

No, it is not a family destination, it aims at the male traveler. The bar is pretty noisy during happy hour. The Labor Day party rocked. The buffet, entertainment, and "King Street" atmosphere in the bar was a big hit with the group I was traveling with.

Room Tip: If you are adjacent to the bar, it can get noisy from 5 - 7. The big suites (Montecristo and Boliva...

October 2011
The Hotel Little Havana, Cigar Store, Bar, Avenue 11 Calle 3b, across Ave 11 from INVU government building.

Your taxi driver may or may not know where it is, or he may have never heard of it. So it helps to have the address. They're right on the corner with signs showing the Mona Lisa smoking a cigar. There’s a gate with an electronic lock and a clear plastic door with another electric lock. The door is manned 24 hrs a day by a security guard. The cigar shop is just to the left of the reception desk and you can smoke your cigars right there if you choose.

The bar is past the reception desk, past the six rooms available for short stays and all the way to the back of the ground floor. Its small with four to ten girls hanging out there from 10 am to 9pm. No walk by traffic. The six short term rooms have beds and showers. There are twenty overnight rooms above on the floors above.

I had the "best room in the house." It was the only one on the third floor. And it had its own private balcony on the fourth floor looking West across the city. There was a king size bed, finally! There was a small bar area with sink, refrigerator and bottled water cooler. The bathroom had a sauna, shower and steam heat in the shower. (Turn on the timer to the right of the shower door to start the hot water heating elements - its like they have in France. The light switch is a red button next to the hot water timer.) The shower is big enough for three with a bench to put your foot up on while you wash your leg (or is it to sit on while you ... I should have asked.)

I don't understand the appeal of the sauna as the climate is sauna like in the middle of the day. But the wall sized window into the shower got my imagination going. But then again ... who am I supposed to be watching?

There's a ten dollar fee for bringing a girl in for the night, she has to leave her ID at the desk and pick it up when she leaves. If you've had experiences in the States or elsewhere when it was embarrassing to check in a "guest" for the night, don't worry. Its not embarrassing here, its expected. There is no restaurant on the premises, there is hot coffee served for free behind the reception desk in the morning and until it runs out.

The Dunn Inn, one block to the North East, has two restaurants. So why not stay there? Because they don't have girls hanging out in their bar all day long and lots of "Squares" use their restaurants and pass through the lobby. (And they aren't as nice. At the Little Havana they know your name, when you came, etc.)

Room Tip: The named suites have character.
