Description: Carpe Diem Restaurant & Lounge, is located in one of the most exclusive areas of the country. The structure that houses it was declared architectural heritage and has been renovated to provide its clientele with a contemporary and elegant ambience.A European concept, innovative in Costa Rica, allows the enjoyment of different environments, within the same place. Its executive chef’s vision resulted in the establishment of the restaurant, in January 2012. A native of the Puglia region, Nicola Papangelo offers a traditional Italian cuisine revisited with a modern touch. The most exclusive ingredients are carefully chosen and imported from his homeland, to create art on your plate. Wine is part of his passion, so the offer is vast and can be enjoyed by the glass.Adjacent to the restaurant, sits a VIP Lounge Area exclusively designed for mingling and relaxing with friends. Sharing a good glass of wine or something from the vast selection of available dishes are sure to enhance the experience.Be sure to sample our “stuzzicheria” which includes a wide selection of small appetizers created to stimulate your appetite.

“Amazing flavors!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2011

Beware! This restaurant is very pricey, however, the atmosphere, service and flavors almost make up for it! I went with a friend, and we had the rabbit and snails (1 dish) and the pumpkin ravioli with shrimp. The flavor and sauce combination were amazing. Very attentive service and relaxing atmosphere. A great place for special occasions or VIP guests.

“Pricey, but one of the finest restaurants in Costa Rica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2009

Cerrutti has been a wondrous treat on my many extended stays in Costa Rica. I don't go there often: it's too expensive (especially by Costa Rican standards) to be anything other than a rare luxury, but it is wonderful. I small (12 tables) nicely decorated Italian restaurant perched oddly on a busy thoroughfare in the suburb of Escazu, it offers some of the finest Italian food this side of New York, or indeed Naples. The Vitelllo Tonnata is melting and magical, and the lamb - whether braised shanks or rack of lamb is perfect, pink, tender and succulent. The place is relaxed and casual (in contrast to the other great San Jose restaurant El Grano De Oro), the wine list concise but excellent - the imported wines, as everywhere, are horribly expensive. Treat yourself.
