This restaurant was chosen by Overseas Adventure Travel for our Farewell Dinner for our group of 16 travelers, trip leader and bus driver at the end of our 13-day Real Affordable Costa Rica tour. It rates right up at the top of my list for food and service on the entire trip. I can't speak to the cost of the meal, but I can't imagine that it would be terribly expensive, given the title of our tour! We had a choice of several options on a set menu, and I had what was billed as beef filet. It looked more like a sirloin strip, but it was very tasty and not at all tough, as Costa Rican beef tends to be. We had a choice of rare, medium or well, and mine was a lovely medium rare by my understanding of the term, and just the way I like it. It was beautifully seasoned and served with some lovely mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables and rice pudding for dessert. The folks around me who ordered the grilled chicken option were also very pleased with their choices. The service was quite good for a group of 18. The location was in an old building (large home, perhaps?) that has been converted into a small shopping center of sorts and was quite lovely. I highly recommend you give La Cocina de Lena a try.
