Rios Tropicale picked us in San Jose and transported us about two hours to the rafting center. On the way the personable guide gave us safety information. Although we have been whitewater rafting in the U.S. before, we were nervous but excited. The scenery was magnificent. The white-water rafting was FABULOUS--much better than the Ocoee River in Tennesse/Georgia area and Colorado. This is what I found interesting...I actually felt SAFER in Costa Rica than in the U.S. These are safety features...the vests were good quality, the rafts stayed far enough apart to be enjoyable, but close enough to assist if needed, there was an extra kayaker that accompanied the "fleet" of 5 rafts to assist if required. I never once felt unsafe. The guide was very personable and friendly. He was great at giving commands that ensured we had a great trip. NOTE: This is a team sport. Our team worked together and we had a great time. I don't really think the Pacuare is for kids under 12 or under. You do need to be able to pull your weight.
Breakfast and lunch were included with our package and both were typical Costa Rican fare, simple, good, filling.
