“Rios Tropicales - Above and Beyond Expectations.... Spectacular!”
I was privileged to be part of Algonquin College's (Ottawa ON CANADA) See Earth 2013 Team. A group of 16 educators taking part in an experiential learning/environmental stewardship journey in the beautiful Costa Rica. RIOS TROPICALES provided us with the most OUTSTANDING service - from the minute we stepped off the plane until the early morning 4am flight home 12 days later.
Verny was our main guide for the duration of our journey - and he was superb. His knowledge, skills and experience is second to none. From detailed commentary during the segments we were on the bus in transit from place to place and during various hikes and excursions.... to his highly developed skills in the areas of rafting and adventure sport (canyoning...ziplining etc) and his ability to read the guests and respond to their individual requests and personality styles - he was an excellent guide all around. Walter, Louis, Henry - also were assigned to our group rafting, excursions, and meal preparation. Incredibly talented, skilled, personable team! As someone who had fears of rafting and adventure activities - I very much appreciated their calm reassuring demeanors while always delivering the highest safety standards. I am so impressed that these guides have such a varied skillset (including preparing amazing meals!!!) and do everything so well with an incredibly positive attitude.
We spent 5 days at the Rios lodge itself - it is simply fabulous! The accommodations are very clean, comfortable and spacious. The hammock area not only provided a great place for relaxation but also the perfect spot for a group of us to enjoy our morning yoga session! The property is a perfect mix of 'some of the comforts of home' but in a bit more rustic environment than a resort style property. Right on the river, the consistent low roar of the river instills a true sense of peace that was very difficult to leave after 5 days! We took several unique excursions while at the lodge...from a great hike up the mountain to visit indigenous village....to ziplining...canyoning...horseback riding,,,,tree planting...visiting a butterfly sanctuary and having lunch....relaxing in the pools under waterfalls. And of course...the rafting was really fun and exciting...and the scenery through the Pacuare River was absolutely breathtaking.
Absolutely recommend RIOS TROPICALES – if you are seeking high quality product and service while with a focus on sustainable tourism - including sustainable communities, conservation projects, reforestation and education.
THANK YOU RIOS!!!! Pura Vida:)
