We cannot speak highly enough of Robert and his wife, who helped us make our trip one to remember - for all the right reasons. Robert helped us make the most of our short time in Costa Rica by organising our trips to volcanoes, cloud and rain forests and much more - all with a smile and good humour. The house has lovely views over San Jose, set in the hills, tasteful decor and a real 'homestay' feel - thank you again.

Casa Isabella has new management, Robert and Gisella, that made our week long stay into such a pleasant and comfortable experience! We didn't miss anything in this comfortable house with big rooms overviewing San Jose area from the hills of Escazu. What made this stay unique was indeed these excellent hosts, with smiles and efficiency they met all our requests/needs and questions on just any subject really. What a recipe for a happy stay! I can without doubt recommend this place, just make sure you book well in advance as the Casa has been quite full for what we saw, and it was low season.

We bookended our trip to the Pacific Coast with two visits to Casa Isabella. Robert and his wife took excellent care of us. Since we were arriving late Saturday, Robert offered to pick us up in his own car, saving us the challenges of negotiating with a taxi driver in a foreign language and paying in a foreign currency--having no idea how to negotiate a fair fare. Robert picked us up that night, took us to the airport the next morning, and willingly picked us up again several days later.

The inn is about a mile above the main street in Escazú. While Costa Rica is known for its low crime rate, I'm not sure if the guards, gates, and razor wire present in many areas came before or after. The Escazú area feels very safe--it is one of the wealthiest in San Jose--but like every neighborhood, a guard is omnipresent on the street just in case.

The Junior Suite was spacious and well-appointed, with a large bathroom and a shower for two. The room felt very private while the living room was inviting as a place to lounge if we wanted to be socialize with other guests. Robert and his wife prepared simple, wholesome breakfasts, and when we wanted to go out for dinner in Escazú, Robert insisted that we allow him to drive us.

We'd happily stay with them again.

We are in Costa Rica, and arguably Hotel Hunters are at least twice a month where we spend a night hotels, romantic and quiet away from the city where we can concentrate on enjoying a night sleeping outdoors.

Casa Isabella is a very special place so beautiful, cozy and very quiet
The attention was amazing, everyone was very kind to us.

The grounds are beautiful!
Definitely be back!!

I'm habitually behind even on important things like booking hotels in foreign countries. So, with virtually no research, I grabbed a room at Casa Isabella for me and my family because it showed up early in the Expedia search results and the price was right and I was running out of time.

Honestly, I was a little concerned about what we were going to encounter. Through blind luck, we found a great bed and breakfas with great people. The room was large and airy with beautiful hardwood floors and the beds were new and comfortable. The main floor very attractive with marble flooring, modern furniture and a nice view from the rear bay windows.

Robert and Guisella were very friendly, approachable and available to answer our questions. Robert recommended and then booked an evening excursion for us (including arranging pick-up at the B&B); took us on a guided volcano tour and then booked our rental car when we left San Jose (again, arranging for pick-up). Plus, he was extremely gracious when we wandered in bedraggled near midnight (I didn't realize Casa Isabella was a B&B, so I hadn't bothered to notify anyone of our late arrival).

We'd stay in Casa Isabella again in a heart beat--the vibe is just very comfortable and relaxed and the facility is excellent.

This is a delightful property with many wonderful amenitiies. It is very close to everything in San Jose and near the airport. There are beautiful views from every room and the staff is incredibly hospitable. We enjoyed every second of our stay there. I have recommended the property to everyone I know who is planning a trip to Costa Rica

We are a Canadian family that spent a week this summer exploring Costa Rica. Casa Isabella was our home-base. And I mean HOME ...Robert and Guisella made it feel as if we were visiting our long lost friends. They were both so warm and welcoming. Robert helped us rent a car and each morning over breakfast would help us choose our destination and sights to see. The B and B is a lovely and clean home. We stayed in a huge room and our teenage son had his own room attached with a shared bathroom. The area of the B and B is in a quiet residential ( wealthy area ) just outside San Jose. Robert was also willing to drive his guests to the various attractions and happily drove us back to the airport at 3am. One of the reasons I'd come back to Costa Rica would be to experience the hospitality at Casa Isabella again. Thank you Robert and Guisella.
