“All Around Great..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Cozy boutique tucked away in the mountaln. A little hard to find but that is part of the beauty. Our first trip to Costa Rica was made so much more pleasant and rich by spending time with Victor and Zeida. Their english is so much better than our spanish. Visiting Escazu? You have to try Casa Cristal. Beautiful views. personalized rooms. Very customer oriented and family friendly owners and staff. Zeida and Victor have a grand prize in Al as their night manager. Our schedule changed at the last minute. Zeida, Victor and Al handled the changes very graciously and with the utmost of customer care. We were treated as if we were family.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony to the east have a great view of San Jose and the Central Valley.

A total of 14 days and I can not find anything to complain about. Victor and Zedia live on site and want you to feel at home, they love the service industry and will do anything to correct a problem. Al is thier night manager and he is on top of any thing in the owners time off, but remenber they live there just talk with them and your complaint would have been resolved in an instant. It is family friendly or the most romantic honeymoon spot to base your Costa Rica vaction. Also use thier taxi driver Christian and all your trouble locating the hotel is over. All the help are honest and hard working to keep this wonderful hotel in 5 star condition

Room Tip: I stay in room 3 it is the smallest but works for me and my girlfriend just fine

Clean and classy, warm and friendly staff, quality boutique hotel in the hills above San Jose! We went for business to meet a customer about an hour outside of San Jose, and this was a refuge and a treat. The owners are American and so speak perfect English, of course.

Nice room, nice (but short) stay, seem just not easy to get there, as even the taxi-driver needed some time to find it.

We missed that the hotel isn't manned 24x7, but the concierge even waited for our late arrival, thx again for it.

This hotel is really lovely, as are the people who run it. However, it took us an hour and a half to find while they were guiding us on the telephone. Knowing this prior to driving in to San Jose at night would have been helpful. Also, we were in room #6, which has a magnificent view, however there is a room above it and the bed is almost underneath the back of the stairs to that room. It was so noisy at 6:30am every day and throughout the day and evening, that all the loveliness didn't matter anymore. We left early.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room #6 if you want to sleep well.

Very out-of-the-way, directions without GPS were hopeless. I finally flagged a taxi in Escazu and followed him to the hotel, after he spent time on the phone w/ his office for its location. Welcoming staff, friendly. Room was lovely, comfy w/ fabulous view and big balcony. Supper was ho hum and expensive. Then bed-time! The walls are thin so we could hear every conversation in all the other rooms, could hear every step taken when people walked in the halls or went up and down the stairs.... I could tell they weren't being noisy, it's just the design of the building, the minimalist decor, and poor acoustics means you hear everything.
Breakfast was crazy. We ordered scrambled eggs, toast and bacon. She made the toast first, then the eggs and brought them to us. Then started cooking the bacon and 10 min later, brought us a plate of bacon. We'd already finished our eggs & toast so wt...? Coffee was terrific though!! I wouldn't stay there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Sorry!

This is a small intimate, private-feel in Escazu. My husband and I loved it. You feel as if you have been invited to stay at someone's home. Even when we wanted glass of wine, we were told to help ourselves in the bar area and let them know what we had. The view of the Valley with all it's spectacular lights gave a high-end romantic ambiance. There are only 8 rooms, so reserve ahead of time to ensure that you can. The price is right and super friendly personal service. It is perfect for your first arrival night in Costa Rica if you are headed off to the Coast or elsewhere. Truly a pleasant surprise find. We will certainly be back. Enjoy! We did.

Room Tip: When making reservations, we requested room 5 and got a great view with a balcony to have our mornin...
