“A must life experience in Costa Rica”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

There are so many great things about the Chirripó, the views, the landscape, the diversity of flora and the fauna throught the whole journey.

I recommend you to prepare a little bit before you go the Chirripó because the distance is 25 Km (since the entrance to the Chirripó peak) and in that travel you go from 1350 msnm to 3821 msnm.

“Chirripo 4 day Trek”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

Did the 4 day trek to the peak, very challenging. Not for beginners. Our guide Radolfo was awesome, he cooked great food with the tools he had and was very patient. Good Luck!!!!

“long day...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

twice, I did the Chirripo with a friend really, it was cool and cold, the trails are in a very good conditions 8 hours to the base then 3 hours to the top, second time, I had the opportunity of participate in the race that is a challenge for people like extreme sport and activities, really hard!! 6 hrs 34 km up and down, it is difficult to explain the beauty and the peaceful you can find up there...

“Best view in the country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

You need to walk several hours, but nature is impressive. HIghest location in the country!

You can see both oceans at the same time!

“Beautiful views, easy hike.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Chirripó is the higest peak in Costa Rica, which isn´t saying much compared to Perú, but the park is very well maintained and the trail takes you through a relatively easy hike through various lanscapes and ecosystems. There was a large forest fire a few years back, so some areas are still in recovery.
You have to reserve in advance and go with a tour group, because only a certain number of people are allowed in the park per year. In one day you will hike to the visitor´s center, spend the night and summit early in the morning, then climb back down the next day. The park cabins are very basic and it does get quite cold, so pack extra layers. Showering is for brave souls who don´t mind freezing water (but it is all part of the fun).
The hike is easy for someone who is reasonably fit.
Ticos will be very impressed.
