“Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2012

While this is an old establisment, it is quaint and has very nice areas to walk and enjoy nature. It boarders a nature reserve and you could walk all day in the wilderness enjoying the wild flora and fauna, especially the butterflies, squirrels, different monkeys, iguanas and endless time bird watching.

If you are lucky the monkeys may congregate by the restaurant and the pool. The premises is full of exotic plant and trees, also has numerous leaf ant paths.

“chilled!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2012

We spent the last 2 nights of our G Adventures family tour here. It was a very relaxed and beautiful place. The staff were great, the location was stunning, the rooms were great and the restuarant was a nice surprise! There is a nice pools, great jungle trails and a ziplining facility here. Our room was a decent size, clean and comfy with a large bathroom. We trekked the trails but as it had been raining they were pretty slippery but I imagine in good weather thy would be fantastic. The pool was great for the kids. We had a few drinks at the bar and the staff were great. Breakfast was fine and despite the slow service the food was really good. Being with kids we only experience N.American food, but I will say that the BLT and fries was the best!!

“Nice place to stay but with some drawbacks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2011

While our stay was enjoyable, and the grounds were beautifully planted with a profusion of exotic flora, I have a few words of caution. First, if you’re seeking a quiet resort in the forest, you will be surprised by the almost constant noise from the nearby highway of large tractor trailers down-shifting as they approach Quepos. Second, although many of the reviews raved about the restaurant on premises, we found that the food was mediocre at best with over-cooked fish and uninspired standard-issue sauces. The service, while friendly, was slow even by Latin American standards. Of course the fruit was phenomenal, but that was true everywhere in Costa Rica, because it was all locally grown. The best meal I had was at El Gran Escape in Quepos, where I had a proper paella that rivaled anything I’ve had in New York or elsewhere. La Foresta did have a nice walking path through its nearby forest, which afforded us a good opportunity to view the local squirrel monkeys (as they observed us in turn). Additionally, the staff at La Foresta were very helpful in booking tours of Manuel Antonio State Forest and a local mangrove forest, which were expertly run by Iguana Tours and their star tour guide Andrei. We booked a two-room bungalow at La Foresta for our family of 2 adults and 2 young children, which was clean and comfortable, although the bathroom was a bit cramped given that four people had to share it. On the whole, this was a nice place to stay but had some drawbacks that could not be overlooked.

“Wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2011

We stayed here 3 nights and loved every moment we had there. It is so charming. They have an excellent helpful staff. The rooms were clean and cozy. They have a trail leading into the forest which we walked. We saw monkeys, iguanas, turles, a coati, and lots of birds. It is a very quite and peaceful place to stay.

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011 via mobile

I stayed at La Forests with my two adult daughters and we loved this hotel. The staff was extremely helpful. Food and service at the restaurant was great. The trails were beautiful. We saw Howler and Squirrel Monkeys each day just outside our room. We will definitely return to this hotel.
