“Great Time at Manuel Antonio Estates”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

We returned earlier this month from a fabulous trip to Costa Rica and had the good fortune to stay in one of the apartments at Manuel Antonio Estates. Four of us (two couples) spent a wonderful 18 days at MAE. The apartment was even nicer than it appeared on the internet site. It was a 2 bedroom apartment that was well furnished and spacious. A nice balcony gave us a great view of the pool and the rain forest. We really enjoyed both varieties of monkeys that usually made a daily trip through the trees and across our roofs. We also enjoyed the family of iguanas living by the pool. We actually saw more wildlife and fauna at MAE than in the parks we toured. MAE is just a short walk into Quepos and short bus ride to Manuel "Antonio National Park.

Dorit and the rest of the staff at MAE were very friendly and helpful. Dorit lined up several excursions for us to go on and arranged Ricardo, the best driver ever, to provide transportation to and from our night back packing trip to La Fortuna and Santa Elena to see the Arenal Volcano and Cloud Forest in Monteverde. Dorit made many phone calls assisting us in arranging for hostels to stay in.

Costa Rica is a great country and the people were friendly and accepting. I would recommend MAE as a wonderful place to stay in the Quepos/MA area.

I stayed first in Mot Mot, then transferred to Jacana. These places are the most poorly built, poorly maintained homes I have ever experienced. Broken furniture, broken tiles in every bathroom, fixtures broken, some bathroom didn't work, exposed metal, no air conditioning in large common areas, furniture filthy, disgusting, stained.
You may ask, what does poorly built have to do with vacation. Try walking down sloping stairs, no steps the same depth, I fell twice.
No lamps anywhere, in any bedroom. It was bizarre. One TV, some old, small, 20" in the living room with no air conditioning. In a home with 5 beds and baths, it would have been nice to have a Tv in the room. It appears like the place is purposely kept stripped down so literally, there is nothing of any value to steal. Maybe that is their strategy.
I have travelled a lot and I was expecting some lower standards but believe me, this is beyond rough.

Room Tip: Run! There is no good room.

Dear Matt,

We are very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction at this time and this way.

During your stay of one week with us we did not get any negative feedback from you, giving us the impression that everything was well.
We have a team of local people doing the best they can to make sure everyone enjoys their stay, from Maids, Maintenance, Security and Concierge, all of which have been in touch with you throughout your entire stay but never received a complaint.
Our office is open every week day from 8am – 5pm and Saturday 8-12. We are here to help you with anything & everything you might need to make your stay with us a great & memorable time.

We are sorry to read your comments and will do our best to keep improving our villas but your statements are very strong and should have been mentioned before at our office while you were here.

At no time we promote our villa fully A/C, but do offer A/C in all the bedrooms, this helps save energy, if you had a problem with the bathrooms, you should have let the concierge know!
This way we would have had the possibility to fix it, or the other details mentioned.
In the previous email there was a long description of the villa and what it offered, and the leader of your group was well aware of the details of the villas and at no time we mislead or promote things we do not offer.

As you can read many others guest before left as happy and satisfied guest.

Very good trip to Costa Rica with wonderful stay at Manuel Antonio Estates. Staff was very helpful in assisting us with tours that we went on plus arranging transport for a three day trip that we took to Aerenal and Monte Verde parks to view volcano, hot springs and cloud forest.
Our two bedroom apartment was spacious, confortable, plenty of room, clean and with balcony that overlooked the swimming pool. The balcony and pool were fun to access to view monkeys, birds and iguana. I highly recommend Manuel Antonio Estates.

Room Tip: We stayed on top floor apartment in a corner room viewing the pool and enjoyed it.

We stayed at the jacana villa for a week with 8 people. My fiancé and I got married with the help of Thierry, kanutto, and the staff at the jacana. Richard and his wife were so cool. Did spa treatments for the girls at the raindrop spa run by Richards wife. It was amazing there. I heard the natural sounds of the forest while getting a 2 hour special massage package.
The villa was more than we expected. It truly is a magical place. Everyone was so friendly in the town as well. You can walk to Quepos in a few minutes or take cabs for like 4 dollars. The coffee is great, the food was good and the scenery was breathtaking. Monkeys came to our patio pool area everyday. I have pictures a foot away from them.
We did the atv adventure, the 10 in 1 zip lining adventure and Manuel antonio park. The beaches in the park are post card beaches. The best ever!! The state beach is beautiful too with all the amenities like umbrellas and chairs. Coconut water on the beach was cold and delicious.
We got married in hermosa playacita and couldn't ask for more. The photos from kanutto photography were so amazing. He was so cool and fit right in with our family. We even invited him to our dinner afterwards and he went. Too cool.
Richard and his wife gave us champagne on our wedding day. They were very nice to us.
We ate at el avion, and had our dinner after the wedding at el cantina. It as delicious.
We did not want to leave. We will not only be back, but hopefully we will move down there some day. The culture is addicting and mellow. It was so beautiful. Can't be more happy with this trip. It really was perfect. Thanks to everyone that made our stay most memorable.

Room Tip: Jacana villa was perfect. All 5 rooms were good. Of course the main house was the most beautiful wit...

We booked Villa Manakin at Manuel Antonio Estares. Dorit in the office was extremely helpful and efficient from the very beginning through the trip. We had Eunice as our chef twice a day and she was marvelous.
We truly had a wonderful time
