“Beautiful start to our Costa Rica vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

My family stayed 4 nights at Villa Kristina at the start of our Costa Rican vacation. I can't imagine a better way to begin our travels! Our apartment was immaculate and very comfortable and Kristina was always available to help us out when we had questions. We spent many happy hours lounging on the spacious outdoor patio and saw more wildlife from Kristina's hammock than we did on our tour of Manuel Antonio! It is possible to reach Quepos by foot from her apartment but the walk is challenging; if you're up for a good hike it's no problem but if not the taxi ride is about $5 each way. Having a car would be helpful but not necessary.
We stayed in many nice places elsewhere on our trip but Kristina's won hands down as the most comfortable and beautifully located. Enjoy!

My husband, son and I just got back from a 2 week stay in Costa Rica; Villa Kristina was our first destination. We stayed in this beautiful villa for 6 nights but wanted to stay longer (alas the apartments had already been booked). The apartments are beautifully appointed with teak furniture, a full kitchen which we took full advantage of, and gorgeous balconies overlooking the lush backyard and pool and further on to the ocean.
The best part of our stay was Kristina who made sure our stay was perfect; she couldn't have been nicer. She knows all the best deals on activities and meals in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area.

Room Tip: We stayed in the larger apartment which was perfect for the 3 of us.

We stayed 3 nights here with the whole family. We have rented both apartments 1 and 2. The apartments were connected which was very convenient. The house was designed and decorated with lots of wood and stone walls. There was even a crib for my grandson. We enjoyed the pool very much. All the bed rooms have air conditioner units and rest of the house has several fans keeping the house cool. We enjoyed also the hammocks and patio furniture in the terrace. The back of the property is like a forest with a beautiful view of the ocean further away.

The owner Kristina was very accommodating. We arrived at the apartment very late in the evening and Kristina was kind to bring her own coffee, milk and sugar to use for the next morning which allowed us not to rush out for shopping after a long drive that night (we did not read the reviews about no coffee, no shampoo/conditioner etc, being provided in the apartment). The apartments were cleaned every day including the dirty dishes!

The road to the house is not paved and you definitely need a 4x4. But it takes only a few minutes (by driving, of couse) to go to shopping, the beach and Manuel Antonio.

We liked the place very much and will stay here again.

Room Tip: Apt 1 is huge and itself is enough for up to 6 people! Apt+2 are connected. You need 4x4 to access t...

We found this property thanks to TripAdvisor and the reviews couldn't be any more accurate. The villas are set in a gorgeous hillside and offer views of both the jungle and the ocean. I traveled here with my 65 year old mom and 10 year old daughter and all three of us had a lovely time. The villa itself is equipped with a full kitchen, two well-appointed bedrooms and two baths. The terraces on both levels were great settings for night time reading. Oh, and the pool is quite amazing. My daughter especially loved the iguanas that would sit on the side of the pool after a heavy rain. The owner Kristina is delightful and incredibly attentive.

Please disregard the one reviewer who called her rude. That is so far from the truth. While there is air-conditioning, we must remember that we are in the middle of a jungle, so if you feel like you might need to run it 24 hours a day, then feel free to go to one of those silly all-inclusives! Let's keep Villa Kristina the hidden gem in the jungle.

Ps....If you are driving you absolutely need 4 x 4 to get into the villas.

Room Tip: Apartment 1!

Two years after our first CostaRica trip we enjoyed our second Long-distance-Holiday once again in this beautiful country and for sure - at Villa Kristina. After the second time - we know - Villa Kristina is the best choice for travellers who want to stay around Manuel Antonio and of course for lovers of pure Nature and Tranquility! We booked the apartment in the middle of the House for one week. Before departure and after a round trip my husband had problems with his ankle and we had to find a doctor to get a check. But as a tourist you can't make a distinction very easily. Kristina was very friendly and gave us help with phone calls to find the right doctor and information where you get Value-for-money.

After that event we wanted to stay one or two days longer in this area, because of the ankle problem of my husband. Unfortunately "our" apartment was already booked. But Kristina - straightforward - gave us the Top-Apartment which was free, exactly when we needed it. So we had again time for Recovering and Enjoying the great place, the cleanest pool/jacuzzi in the whole country and viewing a lots of animals. I took hundreds of pictures around the house and garden. Kristina built her house with dedication and attention to detail. Everything in and around the house is well maintained. Although you are very close to Quepos and Manuel Antonio, Villa Kristina is absolutely quiet and surrounded by the Sound of the Jungle and Nature. You will love it!!!

In this way we give a lot of thanks to the owner Kristina, who helped us so much. We know we can call her as a friend. Next time in Costa Rica certainly we come back to Villa Kristina !!! :-)

Room Tip: Take the Top-Apartment for the Greatest View and lots of Space! It is awesome!!!

While this apartment is lovely and well maintained, the woman who ran it was TERRIBLY RUDE. We ended up leaving early because she was completely mean and ruined the fun of the stay. You can find better service elsewhere! There are plenty of beautiful options in Costa Rica where you'll be treated with respect and hospitality.
(Examples of the behavior: Entering the room without knocking or without permission, screaming at customers, making a woman cry, and refusing to allow the air conditioner to blow COLD AIR.)

Dear guy from Minnesota!
I have a lot of guests and no problems. There are some easy rules you have to respect, not only at my house, everywhere!
Drying your wet laundry on the furniture, as example!! Do you the same at your home??
Cooling down the apartment on 17 degrees Celsius!! I am sure you dont know know whats meaned by Celsius, for your understanding, its 62 degrees Fahrenheit! You destroyed a lot of the apartment with this temperature, condensation water on the windows, in the walls and the wooden floor.
Entering the room without knocking or without permission??? This is not true!! The apartment was cleanded every day, i must enter it to clean it. Without knocking i never ever enter a occupied apartment! I am sure, no owner in the whole world accept this disrespect and ingnorance!

Kicked out during our HONEYMOON!!! for using the air conditioner to unwriiten/unstated "house rules". Nice property, but the proprietor needs to learn some social skills: 1. Entered our "private" room w/o permission; 2. Made my wife cry on our honeymoon (UNREAL!!!); 3. All but called us abnormal for wanting to run the air conditioner too low for her (Kristina's) standards. Not only did she make us feel extremely uncomfortable, she laughed in my face when we tried to calmly discuss the situation. We had planned on staying longer, but her asking us to leave may have been a blessing in disguise. My name is Aaron Abelleira, and my email address is:

Anyone who wants to know more about our personal experience, please fell free to email me, I have nothing to hide, but this "hotel" needs to be outed for the ridiculousness it is. If your planning a trip to this area of Costa Rica, avoid this tragedy at all costs: trust me, I trusted Trip Advisor, and will never make that mistake for their #1 in Quepos again. Stay in Manuel Antonio (5 km south), you'll thank me in the end.

Dear guy from Minnesota!
Thats your second review you wrote...great, thank you!!
I still dont know your real identity?!
You send a lot of requests to me, for your "honeymoon" and other things, under different
identities!!!
I had to ask you to leave, otherwise the whole apartment would be renovate.
